If you are unhappy about the decision made to fluoridate YOUR drinking water,
there are a number of effective ways you can complain. Time and time again,
the Government has reassured people that fluoridation schemes will only be
implemented where there is strong local support. This has not happened here in
the Southampton area despite 72% opposition – so the words of Gordon Brown
and Alan Johnson are meaningless and this undemocratic decision MUST be
challenged.
Official Complaint
Write a letter of complaint to the South Central Strategic Health Authority outlining why you
are unhappy with the decision and what you feel they did wrong. You may do this by email if
more convenient.
Wait until you receive a reply, then if you are not satisfied, you can write to the Parliamentary
& Health Ombudsman. Again, specify why you are unhappy, what you feel was wrong with
the consultation and subsequent decision and what you feel should be done now.
Ward Councillors (we have a list), ASK HOW THEY VOTED if you are unhappy, LET
THEM KNOW.
Southern Water. Let them know that you do not want industrial grade fluoride added to your
drinking water. You are their customer and are not willing to continue paying for a
contaminated product. Options such as deduction of the cost of bottled water and/or reverse
osmosis filters are areas you could discuss with the water company.
