2012 Schedule for Fort Belmont Spring Fundraiser


Held at the Jackson American Legion on April 19 th from 5-7. A dinner is served along with a free will donation. Proceeds go toward Fort operations in the upcoming year.

Tours
Tours for school groups are available after May 1, 2012. Public tours start May 30th, 2012. For additional details, call 847-3867.

Worship, Word, Watermelon (WWW)


Sunday Evening Services at Delafield Church, Fort Belmont are sponsored with the local Jackson County Ministerial Association. Each Sunday at 7pm, the bells of the Delafield Church ring, to call one and all to an ecumenical church service followed by fellowship and watermelon, compliments of the sponsoring church congregation. JAM Sessions 1-3 pm


Talented Musicians come together from the local & long distance area, to provide entertainment for both, young and old. Bring your musical instrument and/or your voice and share in the fun! June 24, July 22, Aug 26.

Senior Day
All Seniors are invited to be guests of the Fort from 1pm- until ? Enjoy refreshments and bingo and take a tour if you wish or just enjoy the fellowship on senior day. June 20 & Aug 15, 2012.

Town & Country Days


See us in the annual Town & Country Days parade in downtown Jackson. Check out the other community events going on during the weekend including the Rhythm of the River musical festival and Tri of Health race.

Sesquicentennial Massacre Commemoration


August 24, 25, 26 ; The Fort commemorated the 150th Anniversary of the Belmont Massacre and the 155th Anniversary of the Springfield Massacre. 305 people were in attendance. The weekend celebration consisted of dedicating the 1909 monument in Ashley Park, recognition of the repair to the 1860 log cabin in Ashley Park, a free showing of the documentary The Dakota Conflict at Historic State Theatre, and tours of Fort Belmont the Jackson County Historical Society Museum in Lakefield, and Historical buildings and artifacts at the Jackson County Fair Grounds. Directional maps were provided to those who wanted to drive to the Belmont sites of interest.

Rendezvous Days

September 7-9th. Gather with the buck skinners at the Annual Fort Belmont Rendezvous on the weekend after Labor Day to celebrate the lifestyle of years gone by. Primitive camping, cooking over an open fire, blacksmithing, demonstrations of pioneer living and other trades of the 1800s era will be on display to experience. Watch or join in the Black Powder Rifle shoot on Saturday, take a horse-drawn wagon ride, or just enjoy the beautiful fall prairie flowers. Food and beverage will be available all day. Special guests will be scheduled for the weekend including music and authors of the 1860 era in Jackson County.

Volunteer Appreciation & Holiday Party


November 11th at the Senior Center in Jackson. Volunteers, Board members and supporters met to celebrate a successful 2012 with a pot luck dinner. The evening concluded with an awards ceremony & brief board meeting.

Old Fashioned Christmas


Sunday, Dec. 2nd: Stop by the fort for Cookies and cider on the wood stove; listen to the Madrigals sing Christmas carols, visit with Santa, learn about the Norwegian Art of Rosemaling via a demonstration from Loy Ann Nasby and then stay for a 4 pm church service in Delafield Church.

Worship service begins at 7:00pm and concludes about 7:45pm. Set up for watermelon is outside on the lawn, on the Southside of the museum. Hosting church provides watermelon, paper plates, napkins, etc. At the end of the season, funds are split in half; Fort Belmont / Jackson County Ministerial.
