Lesson Objectives/Aim/Goal Students will become comfortable with playing a few notes on recorder and improvisation. Essential Question/Questions 1 How do you finger B, A and G? 2 When do you come in with recorder improvisation during Mama dont allow? 3 How do you dictate the first two measures of Hot Cross Buns? Students will demonstrate the ability to: 1 Play B, A and G on the recorder 2 Improvisation throughout a song on different pitches 3 Dictate Hot Cross Buns

What do the students know? Review: The students know how to play B and A on the recorder and they already know some lyrics to Mama dont allow.

Materials Needed

-Music books Writing title and lyrics of song -Worksheet (G sheet) -Recorder

Student accommodations Allow students to participate as much as they are comfortable in improvisation activity and repeat activities until everyone is at the same learning point.

Vocal Warm-ups/Instrumental Warm-ups -Rhythmic pattern repetition on recorder on several pitches -Singing patterns as well

Vocal Focus/Instrumental Focus -Recorder B, A, G and improvisation -Singing Mama dont allow

Motivation -Focus with recorder and if they all do well and try their hardest, we will work on Mama dont allow and add movement/improvisation.

Lesson Development (motivation modeling, guided practice, transitions, Blooms Taxonomy) 1 Warm up on known pitches (rhythmic patterns) 2 Add G into pitches, use G sheet for patterns 3 Dictate on board and begin improvisation as group (give students a one measure limit to experiment with different rhythmic patterns) 4 Stand up and clap improvisation (Ask individual students to stand up and clap their rhythmic creation) 5 Add pitch when they are comfortable (Students will improvise during the silent measures of Mama Dont Allow and then rejoin to play together during the chorus) 6 Sit back down and introduce Hot Cross Buns 7 Dictate as a class and review vocabulary (2 measures) 8 How Can I Keep From Singing?
