how to survive day camp!

Arrival and Departure

Drop off is between 8.30am and 9.30am and pick up is between 4.30pm and 5.30pm. Late collection is charged at 15 per child, per hour or part hour. Please ensure that you arrive in time to have collected your child by 5.30pm. On arrival each day parents must accompany their children to sign in. Parents must tell a crew member before picking up children. Children are not allowed to leave with adults other than a parent unless previously arranged with us. Even with written authority, children are not allowed to leave by themselves. For the childrens safety, we do not allow visits unless they are pre-arranged.

Data Sheet
To comply with Ofsted regulations we must have a completed data sheet for everyone at day camp. If its your first time, you can download one here www.themaninthemoon.co.uk/datasheet. It will make signing in on your first morning a little quicker if you are able to download and complete this in advance.

Photographs
We ask that you give permission on your data sheet for your child to be included in photographs and recordings that parents may take for their own personal use during the Friday performance.

What to Bring
Children should not bring valuable items to day camp (telephones, ipods etc). We take no responsibility if they are lost or damaged. When its sunny please note that we are not allowed to supply, or apply sun block and suggest that you apply it before arrival. A named hat is a good idea. We provide unlimited water all day long and a choice of sugar-free squash at morning/afternoon break and lunch time. There is a choice of fresh fruit, biscuits and bread sticks at morning break. Children need to bring a named packed lunch each day. If they are staying after 5pm a teatime snack is a great idea. We are unable to heat food or keep it cool. Please do not include nuts or nut products such as peanut butter in your packed lunch. These can cause a severe allergic reaction in some children, even if they dont eat the nuts themselves.

What to Wear
Children should wear something comfortable (trousers or shorts are ideal); but please be aware that we can get messy. Please make sure that everything is named. It is very difficult to return items that are un-named. Lost property is kept for four weeks.

The Friday Performance

There is performance every Friday at 5pm. Everyone will be involved so we ask for children to stay for this. We stop for a snack at 4.30pm, so remember to send something extra. Everyone is welcome to come and watch the show. Small friends and relatives are also welcome, as long as they are able to sit quietly through the performance. It should finish by 5.20pm.

First Aid
We have at least one crew member who has been trained in first aid on site at all times. If your child has an accident we will administer first aid as appropriate. You will be asked to counter-sign the accident form when you collect your child. You are able to give us permission on your data sheet to use hypoallergenic plasters if necessary. If your child will need to take any medicine while they are with us you must complete a medicine administration form before leaving your child. We have a least one crew member on site at all times who is trained in administering emergency injections (subject to you having completed the appropriate consent). If you have any concerns regarding our accident/emergency procedures, please do not hesitate to contact either Paul or Sheila, who will be happy to talk over things with you.

Birthdays
We love birthdays and will make sure that children have a fantastic day. To comply with the Food Safety Act 1990 we are not allowed to share homemade cakes at day camp. If youd like to send in a shopbought cake, youre more than welcome.

Confidentiality
All information exchanged with anyone involved in day camp is understood to be confidential, and will be kept that way.

Compliments & Complaints

We love to know what you think, which is why we ask parents to fill in an online feed-back form at the end of their childrens adventures. You can find this here: www.themaninthemoon.co.uk/daycampfeedback This way we can find out about things that we do well and the things we need to improve next time. If you feel unable to speak with us you are able to contact Ofsted directly:
