While our great group of members
started their wonderful Bay Cruise,
Wendy and I spent time with her mom
who has just opened her eyes from a
hip replacement surgery. We made
sure she was doing great before we
accepted the invitation of Marcus
Young, the Commodore of the Golden
Gate Yacht Club. He invited us and a
slate of other Commodores to get to
know each other, enjoy a magnificent
view of the Blue Angeles on the bay,
learn more about their club and partake
in a delicious lunch. About 15 Com-
modores accepted the invitation as well
as a retired Blue Angels pilot and a
new tradition was born.
Our General Meeting will be held at
our club on November 16th where our
members are invited and encouraged to
vote on the nominations of our officers
and board for 2008. Our Nominating
Committee completed its task and we
have a new slate of officers and board
ready for your approval. We posted
the official list in our clubhouse and all
the members have received an official
notice. Please join us on November
16th for the General Meeting and for
making your voice heard.
We have had a fantastic year full of
accomplishments, remodeling (we have
just completed Phase 1 of our remodel-
ing plan), great cruising and making
new friends. We are working on Phase
2, the deck extension and on Phase 3,
our new kitchen remodeling and expan-
sion as well as on obtaining the long
term lease from the City of Napa.
We still have two glorious months, so
get ready for an inspiring Lighted Boat
Parade on December 1st, and a Grand
General Meeting and Change Of Watch
on December 15th. It is also the best
time to explore Angel Island and other
favorite places on the Bay, so
“Experience New Horizons,” be safe
and have fun on the water.

Fall is in the air and, as I write this,
we are experiencing some Indian sum-
mer days which provide an opportunity
to continue the boating season. Even if
it is a tour on the river, get outside and
enjoy the season as gray ole’ winter will
be with us soon.
The Halloween Party was early this
year to take advantage of a Saturday
night. Hope you enjoyed the fun and
music and decorations provided by
Sally Servidio, Mary Parker and Else
Madsen. Let your Board know your
thoughts on adding entertainment to our
events. It adds to the cost but hopefully
is viewed as a value to the event. We
have enjoyed some talented musicians
this year thanks to the recruiting efforts
of Mary and Clay Parker.
The Lighted Boat Parade will be Dec
1 (see included flyer). Decorate your
boat, invite some friends and join us for
the wonder of lights on the water and
our special gift to the community. This
event is also early on the calendar to
take advantage of favorable evening
tides (at least the River “looks” wider at
high tide). Then meet at the club house
after the parade for some hot soup to
ward off the chill of the evening.
Our “big” event of the year, the
Change of Watch and General Meeting
will be at the Napa Valley Country
Club on December 15 (also on a flyer).
Do come and celebrate the many events
and improvements our club accom-
plished in 2007 and look forward, with
a new Board and Officers, to the possi-
bilities of 2008. It should be a great
party!
Kurt Stahr reports that the sign up for
the New Year’s cruise out has filled the
available berth spaces at South Beach.
If you are still thinking you might like
to attend, get on the waiting list with
him as sometimes a space opens before
the event.

For me, the Fall Season seems to al-
ways be a time to regroup, repair, and
realign priorities. A time to maybe
catch one’s breath after a summer if
high energy involvement in activities,
especially at your club. Cruise-ins are
pretty much over, cruise-outs are in the
wane and some big projects completed
at our clubhouse.
There are some things needing doing
prior to winter weather setting in big
time, however. Tom Nunan, your
highly loved Buildings & Grounds
Manager has scheduled a couple times
to meet for some fairly minor outside
repair and painting. Saturday, Novem-
ber 3rd and the afternoon of Sunday,
November 4th should get the job done,
so look for an e-mail to remind every-
one of the work to winterize our club-
house.
Our membership continues to grow
with the addition of Clyde and Kathleen
Smith. Please welcome them as they
need to get known to our wonderful
group. They are sponsored by Sally
Servidio, Philip Craig and Lili Keating.
Our cruising schedule is coming to a
close for the year. Those of us partici-
pating in various cruise-outs have had a
great time and will look forward to
making 2008 another successful season,
as well. Thanks to Charlie Agnew and
the various cruise-out captains that have
spent a lot of time and energy putting
together great events including the most
recent Bay Cruise during Fleet Week in
San Francisco Bay.
The annual Lighted Boat Parade is
scheduled for December 1st with a pot-
luck at the club to follow. This is al-
ways an event enjoyed by our members
and the Napa community. Get out those
decorations and start planning your
mojo to win one of the annual prizes!

Preparation: 25 Minutes - Cook 1 Hour - Serves: 4
4 Slices of bacon, diced STEVE & ELLEN’S VAQUERO BEEF
1 Tablespoon butter or margarine 2 Tbsp oil
1 chicken (3pounds) cup up - I use skinless, boneless 3-4 pounds boneless beef chuck roast
chicken breasts 1 tbsp hickory flavoring
Salt and freshly ground pepper 1 can (8oz) tomato sauce
18 to 20 pearl onions, peeled 1/2 tsp minced garlic
2 cups thickly slices mushrooms 1 Tbsp molasses
2 cloves of garlic chopped 1 Cup chunky green chili sauce—medium-hot
2 tablespoons flour 1/4 cup tequila
1/4 cup brandy (optional). 1 Tbsp triple sec
1 3/4 cups fruity red wine, such as hearty burgundy 1 tsp lime juice
