My Favorite Subject in School

Of all the subjects taught in school, I like Geography best. It is the only subject which teaches me everything I need to know about the world we live in, for example, vegetation, way of life of people, climate, agriculture and economy. I learn about the countries around Malaysia and in other parts of the world and, since I cannot visit and see for myself every country in the world, I get at least a good picture of these countries by studying Geography. I am very interested in finding out more about other countries especially those that experience snow when winter comes. I often wonder about the life of the people in these countries. What would it be like to be dressed in thick clothes and boots and living in snow-covered houses amidst fir trees? Then, there are the hot desert lands that stretch for miles and miles without a tree in sight. They, too, fascinate me. I marvel at the inhabitants who are able to tolerate the intense heat of the burning sun, traveling along miles of barren, hot land on camels where the only vegetation found would be the few palm trees growing at an oasis. The wide range of food which we enjoy daily such as butter, cheese, fruits, bread that comes from wheat and many others lead me on to find out how they are processed and imported into Malaysia and finally make their appearance in our homes. As I study more in Geography, I understand better the changes in weather conditions, for example, why there are hot and dry seasons or cool rainy days during the monsoon season and how deserts are caused. in sight marvel barren within one's range of vision to show great surprise or admiration unable to produce plants or fruit

The Benefits of Television

Television is popular in all Malaysian homes as it is the best form of home entertainment these days. First of all, television enables people to find entertainment right within their own home without having to venture out at all. This saves on transport and time as it is quite difficult to travel to the cinema with traffic jams all over the town. Besides, parking is a problem in the town and so home television is greatly appreciated. Secondly, television keeps us in touch with national as well as world events. Motion pictures help people to follow events better than if they were to read and get the news from the papers and magazines. The news bulletin comes regularly and we are well kept informed of all that is happening around us. Thirdly, television entertains children with cartoons and other educational programmes. This keeps them happily occupied besides imparting knowledge to them in a way beyond the limits of classroom teaching. Adults find watching television shows relaxing after a day's hard work. They can choose their programmes to suit their taste-detective series, thrillers, soap operas, musicals, talks or documentaries which provide general knowledge. We enjoy the advantage of having three channels to choose from. The national language is heard often and the public can improve their Malay language by listening to features presented on television. Hence, television offers many benefits. venture keep in touch impart proceed somewhere remain in contact to communicate information to someone

Newspapers are part of our daily life. We read them to get the latest news of events happening in our own country as well as abroad. People in all walks of life read newspapers. Of course, not everyone goes for the same pages and hardly anyone reads every single page. Politicians, for example, would be very concerned about national and world issues. Businessmen, on the other hand, would watch out for the share market situation more diligently than any others. Then, there are many who pick up the newspapers for articles that would particularly interest them. I am sure children too scramble for the newspapers even if it is only to read the cartoons or to find out the current day's TV programmes. Sports enthusiasts, however, would turn to the last few pages for news that interests them. Newspapers provide a wide range of information including advertisements on new products, sales, job vacancies, restaurants, tours, cinema shows, courses of study available and a host of many others. No matter who we are, we must admit that newspapers play an integral part in our daily life. all walks of life watch out for integral different types of jobs and different levels in society to be careful to notice necessary and important as a part of

TEACHERS DAY Every year, all schools throughout Malaysia celebrate Teachers' Day - a day to honour and remember our teachers who are our leaders and who guide us in our education during our youthful days. Teachers are very much a part of a student's life as they influence a child, right from Kindergarten days to Upper Secondary days; and perhaps beyond. It is they who prepare the child for his or her life in society. Teachers' Day is held to show our appreciation to our teachers who work hard and bear patiently with us. In most schools, pupils bring gifts of flowers, presents and other tokens, which are sometimes hand-made, to show that they care for their teachers. A party is held where tasty refreshments and drinks are served in the classroom for both the

teachers and the students. Everyone has a good time and the day ends earlier than usual. Teachers play a very important role in the development of a child. However, their efforts are seldom appreciated. That is why Teachers' Day is so significant to teachers; it is only on this day that they are appreciated and honoured for their deeds. token a thing that you give or an action that you take which expresses your feelings or intentions

FRIENDS
Friends are people whom we turn to when our spirits need a lift. They are always by our side through thick and thin. They stand beside us even when our disposition is not perfectly right and will fight for us if we are oppressed. Therefore, it is clear that friends play a vital role in shaping who we are today. But what qualities exactly do we need to look for in a friend? A friend should always be caring towards you. He or she should take interest in your problems no matter how big or petty your problem may be. A friend should be able to sit beside you and encourage you to keep your chin up even when everyone else is against you. A friends empathy and lovingness will also replenish your worn-out soul and will make you realize how important a friend really is. Apart from that, a friend should be an honest person. An honest friend will dissipate any worries that he or she is lying towards you. A friends honesty will enable you to trust his or shes opinion when it comes to telling you the truth about yourself. For example, an honest friend will remand you on your declining grades and will ask you to work harder while a dishonest friend will see it with a blind eye. Therefore, an overall improvement in yourself will be noticeable if you have an honest friend. Moreover, a friend should be generous both emotionally and knowledge wise. A friend who is generous ought to be able to connect with you and provide emotional support. He or she should also be generous when it comes to sharing knowledge. A true friend must be ever-ready to help you when you are inept in certain subjects. A friend can easily guide you towards understanding the subject matter better as he or she is often on the same page as you. The only difference is that you cant quite grasp the content of the page per se. Besides that, a friend must also be able to humour you. Humour plays a quintessential role in making your day more lively and enjoyable. Friends who pull your leg and mess about will indefinitely make life seem so much better. As they say, laughter is the best medicine and a little levity on rainy days is always welcomed. In conclusion, friends are people we spend most of our time with. Thus, we have to be selective when it comes to choosing our friends.
