The best way to ensure that the pattern lines up is to use the TRANSFORM>MOVE function. On one side of the box, select just the flowers that overlap. Object>Transform>Move. Select the Horizontal or Vertical value and type in 225pts and 0 for the other direction that you arent moving. Follow the above steps until you have completed each side. Then make sure that clear box is behind everything. Select it and the flowers. Object>Group. Drag this group of flowers into the Swatches palette. Fill a shape with your flowers!

Create smoke in Illustrator
Make a rectangle and fill it black. Object > Lock > Selection Take your Pen Tool (P) and make a vertical. Make the stroke white and the fill blank. Set the stroke to 0.05mm. Change to the Selection tool, hit enter and type in .05mm. Press Command/D 20 more times.
Select all strokes. Change blending mode to Screen and Opacity to 10%. Then group them. With the Pen tool create a curvy (semi-bumpy) line with a white fill and no stroke. Select all Object > Envelope Distort > Make With Top Object. Blend Fidelity is set to 100 Object > Envelope Distort > Envelope Options, there you should set the Fidelity to 100 Take smoky lines and drag and drop them into the Brush Palette. Select Art Brush. The direction should be Arrow UP. Draw lines with the smoke brush you just created. Select all. Effect > Blur > Gaussian Blur and type in 7.0px
