Roxene Edwards meets celebrities at universitys Earth Day concert By: Rachele Reyes The stages lights illuminated the outdoor extravaganza, and the crowd of more than 70 people sang in unison. Roxene Edwards settled on the cool ground and swayed with the music as she tried to concentrate her eyes toward the front. She could not fathom that Pac Div was on campus. Sophomore communication major Roxene Edwards has seen numerous celebrities in concert, including, Curren$y, Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa, but she will never forget Edwards (left) and her friend Maya Everett (right) with BeYoung of PacDiv. The university plans annual events to raise awareness for Earth Day, and the universitys 2012 celebration included a concert. Edwards discovered the concerts lineup from her friend Alexis Jenkins. Shes been in love with them since 2009, Jenkins said. I could tell that she was really anticipating the concert.

Reyes. Edwards. 2 Edwards looks back on the concert On the night of April 20, 2012, a crowd gathered at the Nyumburu Amphitheater. Edwards arrived early and eagerly waited for the group to appear on stage. The crowd erupted into claps and screams as an announcement welcomed the emerging Pac Div. The concerts atmosphere was so alive, and I took in all the energy I felt from everyone, Edwards said. It felt like time stopped for a moment, and I knew that I didnt want to be anywhere else. Pac Div performed their popular songs Broccoli, Favorite song: Broccoli by Pac Div PR interests: Entertainment and fashion A future goal: To own an art gallery. Knuckleheadz and Never. The trio ended the night with Take Me High. After the concert, there was a lengthy and distorted line to meet Pac Div, but Edwards found a way to the front. I was smaller than a lot of the people in line, Edwards said. I squeezed through them until I got to the front. Edwards left the crowd, stood face to face with Pac Div and took a brief moment to take a picture with each member of the group. It was one of those nights that I would live again if I could, Edwards said. Everything about that night was perfect. ###
