artistic jewelry makers, ceramics, glasswork and woodworking were all there. Janelle Songers floral-inspired functional ceramics were a popular crowd draw. On the stranger end of the spectrum, Tim Pws kinetic sculptures were fun to play with. For instance, he brought a larger-than-life wooden hand with moving fingers, puppets and a wearable scuba helmet sculpture. Speaking with the artists, many say they applied to be in the show because they were looking for a fair with a funky, indie vibe. Melissa Kolb, who makes bags out of recycled materials and alters secondhand clothing, has participated in a few

he annual Art Market offered some rather funky nds this year. Chelseas Sounds & Sights Festival crowd visited a diverse mix of over 30 arts and crafts booths, this past Friday and Saturday. As previously reported in Chelsea Standard, the Art Market was promoted as an indie fair something new this year. Ann Arbor artists Helen Gotlib and Dylan Strzynski helped the Chelsea River Gallery reach out to more artists and crafts makers who participate in other indie fairs, including the one they helped found in Ann Arbor, Tiny Expo. CHELSEA Chelsea City Council members made good on talk earlier in the year about changing the days that the regular meetings are held from the second and fourth Tuesday each month to Monday of those same weeks. While those accustomed to watching the riveting must-see-TV that is a Chelsea City Council meeting may have to adjust their TV viewing habits accordingly, city officials
said that the change was being made in light of the number of council seats up for election in November. Three council seats, as well as the mayors seat, are up for the Nov. 5 election. Two seats previously vacated by council members have two years remaining that current appointees will have the option of running for in the election as well. The second and fourth Monday of each month was considered, but that would overlap the council meetings with the Chelsea
Public School Board of Education meetings, which city staff thought would make it a problem for Chelsea residents who wish to attend both meetings. City Council member Rod Anderson asked if there was any public feedback on the change or consideration given to conflicts with Lima Township. Staff responded that conflicts with Limas meeting werent as much of an issue since Chelsea became a city.
