Start Outlook 1. Start Microsoft Office Outlook from the Windows start menu or (if present) click the Microsoft Office Outlook icon on your desktop.
2. If you receive a message Microsoft Exchange is unavailable, please skip to step 7. Otherwise click the Next> button
3. Select Yes to the question "Would you like to configure an E-mail account?" and click the Next> button
4. In the next screen do not enter your name, but select 'Manually configure server settings...' and click the Next> button:
7. If you got an error message Microsoft Exchange is unavailable, close outlook and open the Windows Control Panel (Start -> Control Panel or Start -> Settings -> Control Panel). 8. In the Control Panel, double click on Mail. In Windows Vista or later, this is located under User Accounts -> mail.
9. Click the E-mail accounts button, then click Cancel on the message Microsoft Exchange is unavailable
10. In the Account Settings window, verify that Microsoft Exchange is selected, then click the Change.. button
11. Enter at Microsoft Exchange Server: exchange11.campus.tue.nl. At User Name, enter your TUE usercode.
12. Click the Check Name button. A login window should popup asking for your TUE usercode again and your TUE password. You have to enter your usercode with the prefix TUE\, e.g. tue\usercode. Enter the corresponding password and click the OK button.
13. The connection to the TUE mail server is successful as soon as your username has been automatically replaced with your full name underlined. If not, please check your network connection and your usercode/password and repeat the previous step.
14. Click the Next> button and the Finish or Close button to close the configuration. Now you are ready to use Outlook 2007!
Outlook first start If you are not using a TUe computer, you will always have to logon first with your TUE usercode and password. Do not forget to add the TUE\ prefix in front of your usercode:
Upon first start of Microsoft Outlook 2007 you may get the following message:
If you click the Yes button, the Windows Search service will be installed on your computer. This is however not recommended for older (slower) computers. Check the 'Do not show this message again' line and click the No button.
The request for this Instant Search 'feature' will however appear again as a yellow line in your inbox. To get rid of this message, choose from the Menu Tools, then Options. Click the Other tab and click the Advanced Options button. Unselect the option Show prompts to enable instant search.
