INTRODUCTION The Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli is the eleventh IIM established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is governed by a Board of Governors. The BoG of IIMT consists of experts in many fields like Corporate Finance, Law, Entrepreneurship, etc. Presently, IIM Tiruchirappalli is functioning from NIT Tiruchirappalli campus. IIMT proposes to create a world class Institute and aims at developing adequate manpower for managing and strengthening business, industry, commerce, public policy, harnessing natural resources, etc. The Institutes new campus is to be fully residential and provide an ambience conducive to learning. The structure of the campus

buildings should be such as to evoke a sense of pride among the students. Location details of the campus: The total area of the new campus is about 170 acres. The site is adjacent to Bharathidasan University and is located on Tiruchy-Pudukottai Main Road. It is about 18 kms from Tiruchy Railway Station and 8 kms to Airport. The land is generally even and level.

Cost of the Project & Built up area: Phase I of the Campus is likely to cost about 300 crores and is to be completed in 24 months. The area of buildings in Phase I will be approximately 56,000 sq. meters. TYPE AND NATURE OF BUILDINGS & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES TO BE CONSTRUCTED ON THE CAMPUS: The buildings of Phase I will comprise of 1) Administrative building 2) Library 3) 6 Class rooms of 80 capacities, 2 Class rooms of 100 capacities 4 to 6 class rooms of 50 capacities 4) 2 Research Centers 5) 2 nos of twenty seat Seminar rooms 6) Computer Centre 7) 2 Faculty Blocks 8) Management Development Programme Block 9) Placement & External Relations Block 10) 40 Faculty Quarters 11) 35 Staff Quarters 12) Director Residence 13) 400 Students Hostel Rooms 14) 50 Married Students Hostel 15) Guest House 16) Food court.

The buildings will range from single storied to multi-storied, some of them upto 3 to 4 floors. The particulars furnished regarding the works to be executed are provisional and liable to be modified. Site development includes: 1) Internal roads 2) Security Office 3) External Electrification 4) External Water Supply Lines 5) Sewerage and Sewerage disposal and treatment works 6) Landscaping and Horticulture works 7) Solar Energy Generation, etc. The infrastructural services will have 1) Air conditioning 2) Ventilation (as per fire authority and national building code) 3) Electrical substations 4) Diesel generators 5) Fire detection Alarm & Fighting system 6) Building automation system 7) Access Control, Security & Surveillance system 8) Storage Tanks 9) Water Treatment Plants 10) Strom water drainage 11) Rain water harvesting, etc.
