1. Leonce does not understand Ednas need to express herself and innermost feeling creatively through painting. He fails to see her independence and he rejects her sense and fails. G. Not out of Sympathy, He cares about his wife but does not sympathize with her feelings of need for independence. H. Leonce and Ednas Death Most likely, try to cover up her suicide with something more honourable or befitting of a southern wealthy housewife. Perhaps, conjure a disease that secretly plagued her that resulted in her defiant restless behavior. Unfortunately, his acquaintences might remember Edna as a victim of an unfortunate death and not a victim of literal social suicide.
