MISTAKES MADE DURING THE INSTALLATION OF HEAT TRACING

During the installation of an instrument, it is sometimes necessary to heat the pipes or tubing. A simple installation.. you might think, though there appear to be some practical problems.

HEAT TRACING EXISTING PIPING

The first problem is visible after the installation of the pipe, the tracing can not be properly installed along the mounting of the piping. The tracing is then guided around the bracket, which results in a poor conduction of heat.The next step is the isolation; it is hard to install because of the small distance between the mounting and the piping. In addition, there are holes made in the insulation at the brackets where the most heat transfer will take place. See the pictures below.

DETERMINING THE MISTAKES

Pipes are predominantly insulated with foam insulation. This insulation is exposed to weather conditions and for example, birds that peck it. The masking tape is often used as a temporarely solution or the placement of aluminum plating, which is very time-consuming and expensive. In addition, the piping suddenly becomes the support of both tracing and insulation. The insulation around the tube easily comes loose and then the problem starts with maintaining the temperature of the piping.
