On this basis, d.c. generators circuit breakers (13) are divided into the following two classification of classes: relays (20) (i) Separately excited d.c. generators Construction of D.C. (ii) Self-excited d.c. generators Machines (11) The behaviour of a d.c. generator on load D.C. Generator depends upon the method of field Characteristics (9) excitation adopted. DC Motor (11) Depletion type Separately Excited D.C. Generators MOSFET (3) DIAC (1) A d.c. generator whose field magnet Diesel Power Plant winding is supplied from an independent (2) external d.c. source (e.g., a battery etc.) is Direct Current called a separately excited generator. Fig. Machines (47) (1.32) shows the connections of a Electrical Energy (4) separately excited generator. The voltage Electrical output depends upon the speed of rotation Installations (9) of armature and the field current (Eg Electrical Machines =P ZN/60 A). The greater the speed (52) and field current, greater is the generated Electromechanical e.m.f. It may be noted that separately energy conversion excited d.c. generators are rarely used in

There are three LED wireless (2) types of self-excited generators Lightning (11) depending upon the manner in which the Linear Integrated field winding is connected to the Circuits (13) armature, namely; Maglev (3) (i) Series generator; Miscellaneous (1) (ii) Shunt generator; MOSFET (4) (iii) Compound generator motors (1) (i) Series generator Nuclear power plant In a series wound generator, the field (3) oil circuit breaker (5) winding is connected in series with armature winding so that whole armature op-amp (12) op-amp applications current flows through the field winding as well as the load. Fig. (1.33) shows the (2) connections of a series wound generator. Open and closed loop configurations Since the field winding carries the whole of load current, it has a few turns of thick (2) wire having low resistance. Series

The shunt Identification (6) field winding has many turns of fine wire Reference Papers having high resistance. Therefore, only a (73) part of armature current flows through Relays (25) shunt field winding and the rest flows requirement of protective relaying through the load. are two sets of field windings on each poleone is in series and the other in parallel with the armature. A compound wound generator may be: (a) Short Shunt in which only shunt field winding is in parallel with the armature winding [See Fig. 1.35 (i)]. (b) Long Shunt in which shunt field winding is in parallel with both series field and armature winding [See Fig. 1.35 (ii)].

Brush Contact Drop It is the voltage drop over the brush contact resistance when current flows. Obviously, its value will depend upon the amount of current flowing and the value of contact resistance. This drop is generally small. Share and Enjoy:
