Lets learn the names of the cards and how to say them in English English: 1 For the cards with numbers, just say the number + of + suit. Example: 4 of Spade or 10 of hearts 2 The cards listed below have a different symbol than numbers. They are called the court cards or picture cards cards. They are ACE, KING, QUEEN, and JACK. You say the name of the card + of + suit:

Teacher Lesson Plan: Theory Spend 10/15 minutes reading and explaining the Student Guide so the kids will be familiar with the suits and how to say the name of each card.

Working card names: 1) Divide student in groups of 4, ask them to sit in a circle position and provide a deck of cards for each group 2) Ask one student of each group to shuffle the cards and divide them equally face down to the others on their own group 3) Each student on his own turn (clockwise) face one card up in the middle of the group circle so the next student has to say the name of the card. (You can also have groups of two students facing each other)

Suggestion: Teach students to play some other card games that would encourage them to say the card suit / names.
