TEST
Test is one form of assessment. It is a method to determine a students ability to complete certain tasks or demonstrate mastery of a skill or knowledge content. Also a documented instrument used to gather information and serve as a basis for judgment to infer students relative skills or competence.

TEST
Consists of a broad range of types. E.g. achievement, placement, progress, proficiency, aptitude, diagnostic, standardized, etc. Which to choose and use depends on the purpose of assessment and the intended outcomes.

ASSESSMENT
The process of gathering information to monitor progress and make educational decisions, if necessary.

Purposeful process of gathering, interpreting, recording and communicating; to stakeholders information on student progress that is related to the outcomes of teaching and learning.

ASSESSOR
A person who runs, conduct or administer the assessment.

ASSESSEE
A candidate who is assessed.

MEASUREMENT
The assigning of numbers to individuals in a systematic way as a means of representing properties of the individuals.

MEASUREMENT
Consists of rules for assigning numbers to objects in such a way as to represent quantities of attributes.

A measure is a location on a line. Measurement is the process of constructing lines and locating individuals on lines.

Levels of Measurement
NOMINAL

Numerical values associated with a named attribute Names (or labels) e.g. Student identification number, numbers on racing cars, categories or classifications of objects

Levels of Measurement
ORDINAL

Numerical values that order with respect to an attribute Orderings e.g. Positions in which racing cars finish the race, levels of education attained, codes for an item on attitude scale such as strongly disagree=0, disagree=1, agree=2, strongly agree=3.

Levels of Measurement
INTERVAL
Numerical values that give the amount of an attribute. E.g. temperature, time

RATIO Numerical values that give the amount of an attribute and have an absolute zero. E.g. height, electoral votes

Simply defined as the assigning of worth to individuals or objects.
