No changes can be made to the application after the date of submission. Waiting pool for students will remain active throughout the school year. School placement is conditional upon student successfully passing current grade. Lottery placements are by an electronic lottery. Criteria placements are determined by a review committee or placement protocol. Some specialized programs for special education, English Language Learners, or bilingual students may not be available at all schools. All assignments carry a one-year commitment. AGE REQUIREMENTS Montessori Program for 3 year olds: Applicants must be 3 years old on or before December 31, 2014. Pre-Kindergarten: Applicants must be 4 years old on or before December 31, 2014. Kindergarten: Applicants must be 5 years old on or before December 31, 2014.

PREFERENCES SIBLING preference is granted based on seat availability and the following conditions: Sibling must be a brother or sister of the applicant and reside within the same household. Sibling must be currently registered in a Buffalo Public School. Preference must be requested on the application Priority is given to applications submitted on or before the deadline. Sibling preference does not apply to criteria-based programs. PROXIMITY preference is granted based on seat availability and the following conditions: Residence must be located within a 1.5 mile radius of the school. Preference must be requested on the application. Priority is given to applications submitted on or before the deadline. Proximity preference does not apply to criteria-based programs. ATTENDANCE BOUNDARY is granted based on seat availability at the following schools: 1. Frederick Law Olmsted #64 65% of the seats are distributed citywide to the test-in Gifted and Talented program. 35% of the seats are distributed to students in the original residential zone (see boundary map on the BPS website). 2. Discovery School #67 50% of the seats are distributed to students within the original residential zone (see boundary map on the BPS website). 50% of the seats are distributed to students citywide. 3. Frederick Law Olmsted #156 100% of the seats for incoming students are distributed citywide to the test-in Gifted and Talented program. SPANISH DUAL LANGUAGE (SDL) consists of Spanish dominant and English dominant students. All applicants must be tested by the Language Assessment Office to determine eligibility. Each program provides 50% of the seats to Spanish dominant students and 50% to English dominant students. When selecting this program, please indicate the program choice as either EIM if your child is English dominant or SIM if your child is Spanish dominant.
