FR. ADRIANS CORNER

Our Mens Prayer and Discernment Group seems to have fallen by the wayside. I think this is because of all the happenings at the Mission with the arrival of the Franciscan School of Theology. Br. Christopher and I want to con nue this wonderful group which meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Therefore, we will be back on track with our Mens Discernment Group on Wednesday 20 November at the St. Francis Room in the Mission. Men over 21 are welcome to come at 7:00 p.m. when we read some scripture and share faith in a relaxed and enjoyable environment ll 9:00 p.m. Come through the black gate at the Mission and go directly to the St. Francis Room which is located close to the large statue of St. Francis in the quadrangle. Youll be very welcome. It looks like our Parish Pilgrimage to Rome and the Franciscan Holy Places is about to get underway at long last. We hope to take a group in October 2014 for ten days. There is a pilgrimage mee ng planned for Wednesday October 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Dining Room we will have a slide-show presenta on, and later in the evening Wendy Brophy will give details of cost, etc. There is no obliga on to a end the pilgrimage when you come for the informa on-night on October 30. If you are simply curious about the trip and want to know more please come along for an hour and enjoy our presenta on. Our plan at this stage is to be in Italy from the 12 to the 22 October 2014. We will visit Rome and a end an audience with Pope Francis, celebrate Mass at the Irish Franciscan College of S. Isidoro, visit the basilicas and famous sights in the Eternal City before heading to Greccio where St. Francis made the rst crib and the shrine of Fonte Colombo where he wrote the Rule of the Order and lived as a hermit. Then its on to Assisi and days of pilgrimage at the tombs of St. Francis and St. Clare, taking in visits to the great churches and chapels associated with St. Francis; the Porziuncola, San Damiano, the Basilica of St. Francis, St. Clares Church which houses the original San Damiano Cross, and more. Then its o to Florence and Siena to visit two of Italys most stunning ci es before returning home via Rome. I look forward very much to taking pilgrims from our parish to these holy places I have known very well since my youth when I was a student-friar in Italy.

We will be commemora ng the Faithful Departed on All Souls which falls on November 2. There will be a special Mass at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Serra Center and immediately therea er the tradi onal blessing of graves in the Mission Cemetery. All ministries, both English-speaking and Spanishspeaking, are invited to build altars in the grounds of the parish for November 2. You may coordinate your altar-building with Fr. Arturo who is delighted to assist you in any way. Have a wonderful and blessed week. Fr. Adrian
Please look at the ads in our bulle n and patronize their services if you are in need. We appreciate the support of our adver sers, who help make the bulle n possible and for suppor ng our parish!
