Summary
2 years ago, the Philadelphia Phillies were considered the best team in baseball. Last year they finished 81-81, and at the All-Star break this year they were 48-48. Age and injury finally caught up to the team in the second half of the season, they went 25-41 after the All-Star break. They finally decided to go the route of the rebuild, firing Charlie Manuel and naming Ryne Sandberg the interim (and finally the new) manager.
