Summary
A year after finishing 81-81, and coming off an offseason that saw Justin Upton traded to Atlanta and top prospect, Trevor Bauer, traded to Cleveland, no one thought the D-backs would contend. However, that is exactly what they did, at least until July 21. It took a one of the greatest second half performances from the Dodgers to knock the D-backs out of first place. All in all, they finished in the exact same spot as the year before, 81-81.

Transactions
Traded Ian Kennedy to the San Diego Padres. Received Matt Stites (minors) and Joe Thatcher. Traded Jason Kubel to the Cleveland Indians. Received a player to be named later and cash. The Cleveland Indians sent Matt Langwell (September 1, 2013) to the Arizona Diamondbacks to complete the trade.

Kirk Gibson Career Record: 290-279 (Diamondbacks)

Three Up/Three Down

+ Paul Goldschmidt + Young team is sky high potential + Age wise, one of the best potential pitching staffs

- Injury bug hit the team hard - Need more bats in the lineup to protect - In the dead zone for sports team, arent good enough to contend, not bad enough for top pick
