The 3rd installment of the HOUSTON SPANISH AND FLAMENCO FESTIVAL took place May 22 25th, 2013 at the Marie Spence Flickinger Fine Arts Center, SJCS. This unique festival makes its mark as a consistent and superior exponent of Spanish and Flamenco arts delighting audiences with elegant performances by internationally acclaimed and local artists.
Participants come from near and far to partake in 3-day multidisciplinary workshops offering expert instruction for all levels of apprenticeship. Thank you Houston, audiences, artists, participants, collaborators, sponsors and volunteers for your support and patronage. Thank you Mayor Annise Parker and the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs for recognizing this non-profit endeavor. We express a special note of thanks to San Jacinto College South, the Consulate General of Spain in Houston and the National Endowment for the Arts for partnering with Solero Flamenco to make this window to the arts of Spain accessible to audiences of every age and origin. Since its inception in 2011, Cuadro Communication is one of the most popular workshops offered at the HSFF. The concept of immersion and participation are central to this interactive workshop conveying the collaboration between flamenco song, guitar and dance.

Cantaor Jess Montoya offered invaluable insight in the Flamenco Cante Workshop. Understanding of Cante is essential to all disciplines of flamenco.
The Buleras de Jerez Workshop was imparted by Cantaora Kina Mendez, who encouraged participants to sing and dance!
Participants practice exercises for dexterity in the Castanets Workshop under the guidance of Solangel Lali Calix.
Sevillanas for dancing individually and in couples were imparted by Solangel Lali Calix.
Colorful dresses and smiles abounded in the Flamenco Dance for Kids Workshop under the instruction of Edith Nino.
