Republican David Jolly Officially Announces Candidacy for Floridas 13th Congressional District
Former General Counsel to Late Congressman Young Seeks to Continue Youngs Legacy of Diligent Service to Constituents Indian Shores, Fla. David Jolly, former Senior Advisor and General Counsel to the late Congressman Bill Young, today announced his candidacy to represent Floridas 13th Congressional District, which is enclosed in Pinellas County. It is with great humility that I announce my official candidacy to represent the people of Floridas 13th Congressional District and Pinellas County in our nations capital, said Jolly, during a press conference at the Indian Shores Municipal Center in Indian Shores, Fla. The loss of our dear Congressman Young leaves an immeasurable void in the Congress of the United States, but also in our Pinellas County communities. This is what this race is about to me. Ive worked on behalf of our community and this Congressional District for 20 years alongside our late Congressman, as he consistently found ways to grow high-tech and defense manufacturing jobs here at home, invest in transportation and infrastructure improvements that affect our quality of life, expand higher education opportunities, protect and nourish our beaches, and support our men and women in uniform. In attendance to support the announcement was Beverly Young, widow of late Congressman Young; James Lawrence, Mayor of the Town of Indian Shores; Mark Lunsford, child activist and prime proponent of the Jessica Lunsford Act; and Bill Burke, Vice President for a local leader in the aerospace defense industry. I am here today to express my full support for Davids candidacy to continue Bills good work and wonderful legacy on behalf of our community, said Young. I have seen David work with Bill on very difficult issues and he is brilliant. But, I have also seen Davids compassion as he sat in hospital rooms with wounded service members, providing friendship and encouragement to our heroes while fighting fiercely on their behalf. David not only has the right relationships and tried-and-true experience to be successful in this position, but his heart is in the right place, and I

am confident he will serve the people of District 13 with integrity and with true purpose to help the people who need it most. Since embarking on his endeavor to be the Republican nominee for Florida 13th Congressional District, Jolly has received the public endorsements of former U.S. Ambassador Mel Sembler, former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense and U.S. Secretary of the Navy Gordon England, State Representative Larry Ahern (R-Seminole), former Pinellas Park Mayor Bill Mischler, St. Petersburg businessman Jim MacDougald, and Pinellas County businessman Jim Holton. It is with great enthusiasm that I endorse my friend and neighbor David Jolly in his campaign to represent our community in Washington, said Mayor Lawrence. David has served our town with commitment and dedication for many years, including serving for the past several years as chair of our towns Board of Adjustment, and prior to that, serving on the towns Public Services Committee. The Congressional District 13 seat was held by the late Congressman Bill Young, who had served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1971 before passing away on October 18, 2013. A special primary election has been set for January 14, 2014, and a special general election will be held March 11, 2014. David Jolly is an advocate who helps people because they need him, not because he wants the credit or attention, said Lunsford. I met David when I could not get anyone in Washington to listen to me on the need for increased funding to ensure law enforcement had the ability to track and detain child predators. David helped me, pro bono, even spending some of his own money to advocate for me and this very important cause in D.C. Real people need someone like David advocating for them in Washington. David Jolly has had an impact on industry and small businesses here in Pinellas County in an incredible way, said Burke. Five years ago, he brought together the largest defense and hightech companies in the area with local, small businesses and created a business development league that helped protect us from job losses during the economic downturn and actually helped encourage job growth in Pinellas by creating new industry partnerships. Ive seen David help Pinellas businesses deal with complex Washington problems. There is no one more qualified to represent us in Washington. It is my sole intent to pursue the opportunity to serve the people and interests of Congressional District 13 responsibly, to seek consensus whenever possible, and to lead with conviction, clarity and understanding when it is not, said Jolly. Lets start today and run a people-to-people campaign that focuses on the qualifications of our candidates, engages in constructive dialogue on issues that matter, and pledges to dispel the partisan rancor and rhetoric that is so typical in politics today. Jolly is a fifth-generation Floridian who has spent his entire career working on behalf of the people of Pinellas County, advancing and supporting community interests in the U.S. Congress and serving in multiple civic and community leadership roles here at home. He is a candidate with unparalleled Congressional experience, including serving Pinellas County residents as General Counsel to the late Congressman Bill Young during some of Washingtons most challenging times. In addition to creating and owning multiple businesses, including a communications firm, a law firm, and a consulting firm, Jolly currently serves as a Vice President of the Clearwater-based (MORE)

Boston Finance Group, a specialty finance and private equity company investing in job-creating businesses, as well as Chief Executive Office of Olympus Foundation Management, a Clearwater professional services company supporting life-cycle philanthropy of non-profits and individuals. As part of his practice, Jolly has served as a pro-bono advisor and advocate for Support Jessies Law, a non-profit committed to securing resources for law enforcement to track and apprehend child predators. Jollys past and current leadership positions with community and civic organizations include serving on multiple boards, including the Board of Advisors for the Elder Law program at Stetson University School of Law in St. Petersburg, the Tampa Bay Veterans Alliance, the Town of Indian Shores Public Services Committee and Board of Adjustment, and the Boys & Girls Club of the Suncoast. Jolly also founded the non-profit Florida Federal Contractors Association, an economic development organization in the Bay area, advancing the interests of the regional business community. He currently serves as the organizations Chairman.
