SPEAK OUT
Dear Speak Out, Reminder to all Americans to fly their Flag this Monday, November 11th...Veterans Day. And most importantly please remember to not only fly our majestic Flag but to take the time out of the day to honor our Veterans. It is what this holiday is all about. And while doing so please reflect on these thoughts: our heroes, while wearing the uniform of their Branch of Service, all marched under the same flag; none of them have ever forgotten the true meaning of the words of our National Anthem singing out loud and clear, even if they are the only person in the crowd doing so; they will, for as long as they draw breath, honor our flag when it passes by - standing tall, in silence, hat off, hand on heart - often with a tear slipping down their cheek, remembering their comrades who gave their all. These Veterans have lived what our youth can only read about in the history books. And each Veteran says a silent prayer that these young people never will know the horrors of war. Do we owe them our respect? Do we owe them our thanks? If you are worshipping the God of your choice; moving freely from state to state; country to country; speaking what is on your mind..no matter what the subject then you already know the answers! Now all you have to do is honor them, not just on Veterans Day, but every day. Say thank you for your freedoms by: daily flying our flag; singing as loud as they do the next time you hear the Star Spangled Banner played; standing tall and silent beside them whenever our flag passes by; teaching your children what a true hero is; and by never, ever forgetting that freedom is not free. May God forever bless our Veterans, our true heroes. And God Bless America. With Profound Gratitude, Elizabeth (Smidge) Stevens for the Mount Morris Ladies Auxiliary Boyd Parker VFW Post # 547 3 Elm Street

Brian Tolnar, General Manager and PGA Director of Golf at Blue Heron Hills Golf Club, received the 2013 Western New York PGA Professional of the Year Award at the organizations fall meeting and award ceremony. In addition, Brian was also awarded the WNYPGA Growth of the Game Award (Presidents Plaque) and was the WNYPGA Merchandiser of the Year Award for a Semi-Private Facility. Tolnar was awarded this recognition based on the many junior golf initiatives and growth of the game programs he was actively involved in during the 2013 golf season. These initiatives included the creation of the Greater Rochester YMCA Golf Initiative established to teach golf in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere while promoting life-skills, healthy living, character building, honesty and good sportsmanship. In addition, Brian has been heavily active with teaching the game to area high schools, boy scouts, girl scouts and the boys & girls clubs of Rochester. Professional of the Year WNYPGA Professional of the Year is determined annually by the Section to honor the working club professional whose total contributions to the game best exemplify the complete PGA golf professional. While the honor is based on the candidates entire record, special emphasis is placed on Brian J. Tolnar, PGA GM & PGA Director of Golf performance and achievement over the past five years in the following criteria: overall performance as a golf professional at his/her club, service to PGA Section and Association, leadership ability, image and ability to inspire fellow professionals and promotion of golf. Presidents Plaque (Growth of the Game Award) Presidents Plaque is to honor a PGA Member that has contributed significantly and shown achievements in the area of player development through Play Golf America and Growth of the Game Programs. Merchandisers of the Year PGA Merchandisers of the Year Awards recognize those WNYPGA professionals who have excelled as businessmen and women/merchandisers in the promotion of golf. This person shall have demonstrated skill in the planning of sales by presenting products to his/her market on a timely basis, and through the use of specialized merchandising techniques such as displays, advertising, etc. Brian currently hosts the WNYPGA Junior Golf Tour, WNYPGA Junior Tour at SUNY Delhi Junior Tour at Blue Heron Hills Golf Club annually. He also hosted a national event on the AJGA Junior Tour this past May where 120 of the best junior golfers from 52 states and 13 countries participated. Brian was one of two PGA Professionals from the region to represent the PGA of America at the Wegmans LPGA Junior Golf Clinic in May. Among other accomplishments, the award also recognized the many hours of free instruction Tolnar gave to juniors, seniors and adults throughout the 2013 season. Brian would like to give a special thanks to PGA Professionals: Dave Coller, PGA (Triple Creek Golf Club, Nunda, NY), Dave Boos, PGA (Henry Stambaugh Golf Course, OH) & Michael Spiech, PGA (Tippecanoe Country Club, OH) for their mentorship while he was a PGA Apprentice while in the Northern Ohio PGA Section.

Periodontal disease is often linked to the control of diabetes. For example patients with inadequate blood sugar control appear to develop periodontal disease more often and more severely, and they lose more teeth than people whose diabetes is under control. Regular dental checkups and periodontal screenings are important for evaluating overall dental health and for treating dental problems in their initial stages.
