Connecting strip shall be supplied for delta/star connection. All terminals shall be adequately designed. Line terminals shall be thoroughly insulated from frame with material resistant to tracking insulated

4.4

Terminal Box and cable entries:-Terminal box shall be mounted on the right hand side as viewed from Driving end. It shall be rotatable in steps of 90 to allow cable entry from any direction. The terminal box shall be provided with bolt terminals, cable lugs and entries for suitable cable glands corresponding to number and size of specified cable. An adequately sized earth terminal shall be provided in the motor terminal box for termination of the fourth core of specified cables. Cable glands ( double compression, Nickel /Cr plated brass)Cable lugs shall be of tin plated copper only. Motor terminal box shall be suitable for fault level of 40 KA for 0.25 secs. for motors above 30KW. The motor and terminal box shall be provided with two earth terminals. A separate terminal box shall be supplied for space heater terminals as specified in clause 4.8. 4.5 Phase Marking:

Appropriate phase markings as per IS-4728 shall be provided inside terminal box. The marking shall be non-removable and indelible.

4.6

Motor Casing and type of enclosure:--Motors shall meet the specified ambient conditions and operating requirements. The minimum degree of protection for the motor enclosures including terminal boxes and bearing housing shall be IP-55 as per IS 4691. Motor for outdoor use shall be suitable for installation and satisfactory operation without any protective shelter or canopy. Motor casing shall be provided with a suitable drain for removal of condensed moisture. 4.7 Shaft Extension: Motor shall be provided with single shaft extension with Key way and full key. 4.8 Anti Condensation heaters:
Motors above 30KW shall be provided with 240V anti-condensation heaters, sized and located so as to prevent condensation of moisture during shutdowns periods. The heaters shall permanently remain ON when the motor is not in service and as such cause no damage to windings. The rating of the heater shall be such that the surface temperature does not

SWTS-43

exceed 200C in an ambient temperature. For motor installed in hazardous atmospheres(Zone-1 or Zone 2),space heaters shall conform to provision of applicable standards.
