The main technical data of the bus ducts shall be coordinated with the data of the auxiliary power
transformers and the motor control centers respectively.
The two bus ducts as below shall be acceptable:
• Type A:
Copper conductors embedded in an insurant composed of inert minerals and self-extinguishing
polyester.

• Type B:
Metal enclosed type bus ducts, i.e. copper conductors in a three-phase and neutral phase with
aluminum enclosure, without barriers between the individual phase conductors and neutral.

Neutral conductor rated current shall be ½ phase conductor rated current.

The bus ducts shall be complete with supports, hangers, expansion joints, fire proof wall and floor
bushings, connectors and flanges at either end, etc. to make a complete installation.

4.3.12 MOTORS

General

Motor Specification and Data Sheets have been included in this section as required. Any motors for
which Motor Specification and Data Sheets have not been included, but which are required for operation
of the equipment, shall be furnished. All proposed motors shall be listed in the Proposal.

Special requirements for individual motors and specifications for special application motors are
included in the equipment technical sections as required.

In case of conflict between the requirements of the various parts of these specifications, the
requirements of the different parts shall govern to the extent of such conflict in the following sequence:
mandatory governmental regulations, codes, and standards; Motor Specification and Data Sheets (when
included); equipment technical sections; this motor section; and the referenced industry codes and
standards.

Motors for installation in hazardous areas shall be certified and approved for the particular hazard
classification. General plant driver motors shall be of totally enclosed, fan cooled, weatherproof design.
They shall be squirrel cage induction type, continuously rated and shall be explosion proof type for the
installation in hazardous area.
Code and Standards
All motors shall conform to applicable standards of ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, IEC and AFBMA, except
where modified or supplemented by these specifications. In case of conflict between any of the industry
standards relative to manufacturing requirements covered in these specifications only by reference to
the standards, the requirements of NEMA shall govern.

Rating
Motors shall be designed to operate at least 2 years continuously without maintenance. All motors shall
be suitably protected when required to operate in adverse environments and when subjected to exposure
to radiant heat (including sunlight). Alternatively, motors subjected to sunlight and radiant heat may be
fitted with heat shields.

Noises

Noise level of motors shall be in accordance with IEC standards and shall be consistent with meeting
the overall noise limitation of the facility.

Performance

Each motor shall be furnished with a service factor of 1.15 and shall be designed such that the motor
nameplate rating shall be at least 15 percent greater than the driven equipment operating range
maximum brake kilowatt.

Each motor shall be designed to provide a continuous kW capacity equal to the nameplate kW rating
multiplied by motor service factor of 1.0 without exceeding the total limiting temperature rise stated in
these specifications.

Motors shall be designed for full voltage starting and frequent starting where required, and shall be
suitable for continuous duty in the specified ambient. All AC motors shall be capable of momentary
operation (for up to fifteen seconds) under running conditions at rated load and frequency with a
minimum of 70% of rated voltage at the motor terminals.

All AC motors shall be capable of operating at rated torque, at any frequency between 47.5 Hz and 52.5
Hz together with any voltage within +10% and -10% (-15% in case of LV motors) of the nominal value.
Motors shall be capable of withstanding 20% overspeed for at least two minutes.

All DC motors shall be capable of operating continuously at rated output at any voltage within -15%
and + 10% and also shall match with DC system. Starting Duties. Motors shall be suitable for full
voltage starting and shall be capable of operating continuously under the specified conditions of load,
torque, and inertia.

Motor shall comply with the following additional requirements:


• Direct-on-line starting of the AC motors with the driven equipment connected shall be
possible when, at rated frequency, the voltage at motor terminals is not less than 85% of rated
voltage.

• Unless otherwise required by the driven equipment, two consecutive starts from motor warm
condition and three consecutive starts from motor cold condition, both with subsequent steady
continuous operation, shall be guaranteed without exceeding the specified temperature rise
limit (For LV motors).
• Unless otherwise required by the driven equipment, one consecutive starts from motor warm
condition and two consecutive starts from motor cold condition, both with subsequent steady
continuous operation, shall be guaranteed without exceeding the specified temperature rise
limit (For MV motors).

• AC motors shall be designed and guaranteed to have a maximum starting current ratio,
including all tolerances based on IEC standard or international standards.

Torque Characteristics

Except as specified otherwise in the individual subsections or technical sections, the torque
characteristics of all induction motors at any voltage from 85 percent rated voltage to 110 percent rated
voltage or the starting conditions indicated on the Motor Specification and Data Sheets shall be as
required to accelerate the inertia loads of the motor and driven equipment to full speed without damage
to the motor or the equipment.

Motor Insulation & Temperature Rise

All insulated windings shall have Class F insulation for motors 6,600 V and above and Class B
insulation for motors 400 V and below non-hygroscopic insulation systems with Class B temperature
rise based on an ambient temperature of 40 °C. All insulated winding conductors shall be copper.

Space Heaters

Space heaters shall be provided in all motors rated 11 kW and above. Space heaters shall operate at 230
VAC.

The heater rating shall be sufficient to ensure that the motor insulation resistance is maintained at a
satisfactorily high acceptable value when the motor is on standby or is stored outdoors for long periods.
Winding Temperature Detectors, motors rated 90 kW and above shall be provided with temperature
detectors in the stator winding for measurement of winding temperature.

In general, the motor shall have six resistance-type temperature detectors, two in each phase, embedded
in the stator windings and spaced equally around the stator circumference for alarm and trip.

Construction

Unless otherwise specified, motors shall be of squirrel-cage induction type, used with direct-on-line
starting for all ratings and speeds. They shall be totally enclosed fan cooled, fully weatherproofed and
with tropical protection.

All motors located in hazardous areas shall be provided with non-sparking fan which is sufficiently
conductive to prevent the accumulation of static charges.

Motors shall preferably be suitable for rotation in either direction.

All fastenings of the motor shall be made of corrosion-resisting material or be plated or treated with
corrosion-resisting material. All internal parts of motor exposed to the cooling air such as air deflectors
and fans shall be corrosion resistant.

Motors shall be designed to permit rust removal and paint spraying of motor interior without breaking
any weld joints. Motor shaft ends shall be provided with a suitable threaded hole or holes to facilitate
the assembly, fitting, and removal of couplings, etc.

Motors shall be horizontal foot or flange mounted, or vertical flange mounted as required. Motors shall
be suitable for mounting on conventional foundations or grid plates.

Motors shall be provided with lifting devices such as eyebolts or rings.

Each motor shall be provided with two grounding terminals, one conveniently located on the motor’s
frame and another one on the motor’s terminal box.

Motor Enclosures
Motors shall be totally enclosed, fan cooled and fully weatherproofed.

Enclosure parts for all motors (e.g., frames, bearing brackets, external fan covers) shall be made of cast
iron, cast steel, sheet steel, or steel plates.

Aluminum enclosure parts are not acceptable.

All motors that are to be installed in Zone 1 hazardous areas shall have flameproof type Ex'd' enclosures.

All motors that shall be installed in Zone 2 hazardous areas shall have increased safety type Ex'e'
enclosures.

Motor enclosure protection class shall be as specified as following:


(a) IP 55 for MV and LV motors
(b) IP 68 for Submersible Pump Motor.
(c) Explosion Proof for Motor installed in Hazardous Area.

Bearing

Ball and roller bearings shall have cages suitable for high speed running and shall be of standard sizes
readily available from local suppliers.

The average life of bearings shall not be less than 48,000 hours with the motor operating continuously
at maximum rated load.

Where oil-lubricated bearings are specified, provisions shall be made for visual inspection of oil rings
and oil level and draining.

Grease-lubricated motors having provision for periodic greasing shall be furnished without grease
fittings and in their place to be equipped with a plug in the tapped hole normally provided for such
fittings. In addition, motors shall be provided with relief or drain plugs. Motors having prelubricated or
sealed bearings are acceptable.

Additional Requirements for Vertical Motors

Vertical motors having solid shafts are preferred for all applications except those in which the
connection to the driven equipment is a sectional shaft which may unscrew and lengthen in the event
of reversal of rotation. Hollow-shaft vertical motors with special couplings shall be used for this
application and subjected to Owner's approval.

Vertical motors shall have thrust bearings designed to carry the maximum axial thrust (up and down)
imposed by the driven equipment plus the motor itself. For vertical motors, bearings shall be used for
thrust and guide bearings. Where motors are supplied without thrust or guide bearings, this shall be
stated on the drawings. The permissible amount of float shall also be stated.

Terminal Boxes

Motor terminal boxes shall be of adequate size to permit terminating motor leads and other wiring at
the motor and so that the power cable entering the box can be satisfactorily terminated. Separate
terminal boxes shall be provided for main power supply, space heater and winding temperature detector.

Motor cables shall be fully insulated, fitted with lugs and provided with permanent identification within
the terminal box. Each cable shall be provided with a crimp-type terminal lug suitable for the conductor
of the external cable, together with bolts and nuts for terminating the external cable. Flexible conduit
connection shall be provided.

Each motor 1,120kW and larger shall be furnished with three current transformers on the terminals of
the motor for differential protection.

Accessories

The following motor accessories shall be provided:


• Bearing Thermometers
• Motors having sleeve bearings shall be equipped with dial-type thermometers, one per bearing
for monitoring the bearing temperature. The thermometer shall be provided with an alarm
contact.
• Cable Terminal Lugs
• Every motor terminal for external cable connection shall be provided with a crimp-type cable
lug suitable for the external cable conductor, together with bolts and nuts necessary for
connecting the cable terminal lugs to the motor terminals.
• Keys
• Every motor shaft shall be provided with coupling key.

Painting, Nameplates and Markings

Painting
Motor surfaces, except flanges and other machined surfaces shall be electrolytically painted. Should
there be any contradiction between the paint manufacturer's recommendations and the above, then the
most stringent should be applied.
Nameplates
Motor nameplates shall be made of stainless steel. They shall be fixed to a non-removable part of the
frame. Every motor shall be provided with a rating plate according to IEC standards.

Markings
Motors to be transported in disassembled condition shall be furnished with suitable match markings
required for assembly at job site.

4.3.13 DC POWER SUPPLY AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

This item covers the requirements for the design, construction, inspection and testing of battery and
charger units. The 220 V DC system shall be provided for the combined cycle power plant, for the plant
auxiliary dc loads, and etc.

The use of 24 V DC level shall be derived from 220 V DC/24 V DC converter. The 220 V DC/ 24 V
DC converter shall be 2 x 100% redundant for safe supply.

DC System

Each DC system shall comprise 2 x 50% rated duty batteries and 2 x 100% float/boost chargers. They
shall be arranged such that under normal operation the charger shall supply DC loads and at the same
time shall automatically float charge the battery to keep it fully charged.
