104 E Murray Shickley, NE 6843 (402) 627-3375 To: National Convention Participants/Parents Re: National Convention October 7, 2013
This letter contains important information about our trip to National FFA Convention in Louisville, KY. Please read this over and share with your parents, as they will need to know much of this information as well. Our trip will include many educational as well as fun events. We will be attending the convention as part of the Nebraska FFA Convention Tour Group. Our pick-up point with the group is in the Lincoln area at 10:30 on Tuesday, October 29th. We will leave for the agriculture room at 8:30 in the evening on Tuesday, October 29th. We will be in Louisville from Wednesday to Saturday and will leave on Saturday morning. We will arrive back in the Lincoln area late Saturday night, and will drive home after we get off the bus. While at the convention we will be staying at the Galt House Hotel. The address is 140 North Fourth St. Louisville, KY 40202. The phone number is (502)-589-5200. The students name will be on the rooms they are staying in. If you have trouble reaching them, contact me. I will have my cell phone with me during the entire trip if you need to contact us. My phone number is (403) 380-5232. We will not be spending much time the hotel during the day, so we wont receive messages until the evening. Students should bring appropriate dress for the convention. During the day, students need to be in Official FFA Dress. This includes the FFA jacket, FFA tie/scarf, white shirt/blouse, black pants/skirt, and black shoes. If the member has not received their FFA jacket yet, we will borrow one from another member of the chapter for the trip. During the evening, appropriate casual clothes can be worn. If you have any questions, please ask. A good rule of thumb is that if it is questionable, you should probably leave it at home. The weather in Louisville may be cool, so a light jacket and sweatshirts may be good items to pack. Previously, you have completed a code of conduct form and medical release. If you have any changes from the start of school, please complete a new form. I do not anticipate any problems, but I would like to stress a few points that are included on the code of conduct form. Our students are not only representing themselves, but our chapter, school, and the FFA Organization. To this end, I expect our students to act in appropriate ways. Please review this expectation with your student and stress the importance of their behavior. Also, please note that if a student chooses to violate the code of conduct, they may be sent home. If they are sent home, this is at their own expense as well as the total cost of the trip will be charged to the student. Once again, I do not foresee this as a problem; however, I do want you to be aware of this. I am planning on having a wonderful convention with no problems. The Galt House Hotel is a very reputable, but for their own safety, I would suggest not bringing many valuables along to convention. I know many of our students have cellular phones and bring them on trips in order to call home and avoid charges. This is once again very appropriate. If a student is using a

cell phone during convention activities, I reserve the right to confiscate the cell phone to be returned at the end of convention. Thank you for your support of this requirement as we give the convention activities proper respect. I am looking forward to an exciting trip to Louisville and taking part in the National FFA Convention. While at the convention, we will take part in convention sessions, leadership workshops, FFA Career Center, and other convention activities. I am excited to have an excellent group of students attend this event and look forward to a great week. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call or stop by the school. You can reach me at the school or on my cell phone (402)380-5232. Thank you for giving your student the chance to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. Sincerely,

Kristin Witte
