Eric Trahan,
Principal, Wolfville School HOME AND SCHOOL CORNER Home & School Meeting, Monday June 13, 2011, 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we enter into the last month of school, I thought that I would remind our students and families about our school dress code. As a school, we believe that the image that students, employees and volunteers project is important in establishing and maintaining a positive, respectful, and safe environment. Everyone is expected, therefore, to dress in a manner that is consistent with policies setout by the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board. As such, attire must be appropriate, clean, tidy, and respectful. Any personal dress practices or preferences that prove offensive to others must be avoided. Inappropriate attire can be viewed as presenting a bodily appearance or wearing clothing which is disruptive, provocative, revealing, profane, vulgar, offensive or obscene, or which endangers the health and safety of others. Examples of prohibited dress, appearance, or adornment include, but are not limited to: Hats, hoods and sunglasses (must be removed in the building). i. Jackets (must be removed in class).

Tops (that do not cover the midriff and cleavage). Low cut tops, muscle shirts, spaghetti straps, backless and side-less tops, tube tops, are not to be worn in school at any time. Pants (that are not worn above the hip). If a student is wearing pants in such a way that they fall down the student must correct the problem. Excessively tight fitting or baggy clothing is not to be worn. Dangling chains, etc. which may be hazardous are not to be worn. Undergarments are not to be shown at any time and students are not to wear pants or tops that are made to reveal undergarments or a large amount of skin. Shorts and skirts must reach the mid-thigh. Adornment such as chains or spikes that reasonably could be perceived as or used as a weapon, and any symbols, styles or attire frequently associated with intimidation or violence. Messages displaying pictures, tattoos, slogans, jewelry, etc. suggesting actions of a sexual, inappropriate or illegal manner are not acceptable. Indoor and outdoor shoes are required in the elementary. Shoes are to be worn in school.
