Homework Response (DUE BY 7:30AM, 8/29) The authors defined an actor is a person who is standing in the world and feel it use other's position and identity. And the figured world is a social world which tells us meaning of life and outcomes. Literacy practice is a way to understand a person's linguistic habits. It has history, social and so on. Actors perform in the figured worlds when they are performing some meaningful acts and assigned to particular objects. Is everyone can be a actor in many different figured worlds? why the authors want to tell us about actor and figured world? How these articles help us doing in class?

2. Homework Response: 250 Word Summary Drafts (DUE BY 9/3) My figured world is Chinese restaurant. There are many different people. It is for any kind of people, they may be alone or someone with them, but they all share one common thing which is the food. As many others restaurant, people come here to find some delicious food and drink. Also there are some rules, for example, people should keep their voice down. Do not throw garbage everywhere. Put it to dish or put it on the table. Most important thing, make sure you have your wallet with you. I hope I can find the coordinate between different people. Such as the chef and apprentices, buyer and accountant, the front desk and waiters. How the boss running this restaurant. Some Businessmen may talk some business at here. Father may take his family here to celebrate his son's birthday and some people may be attracted to food smell. I think restaurant is a vivid world because everyone eats, so we will meet any kind of people. And in my culture, food is most important thing in our normal life. Just like an old Chinese proverb: bread comes first.

3. Homework Response: Workshop Preparation (DUE BY 7:30AM 9/10) My first workshop was ENGL 1101 because this way is not popular in China. It was kind of feeling nervous and feels helpless. It was my first semester; I cannot understand every word they said. However, things were getting better because they know it is hard for me, so they slow down and asked me about the thing they just talked about. I think workshop really working at some point. At least, it helped me to follow the instructions and fixed many problems in my article. I think editing is first modifying article when you completed. It more focus on grammar, symbols, etc. However, revision is more complicated. We may need to rewrite some sentences or even whole paragraph in order to make the article more sense. Is it Okay to be Short and Sweet? Not most of the time. This is most things I heard since I started writing something. People want details; it likes the frame of an article. Without details, we can get anything, it makes the article clear. How muck to Comment? Comment is what I am

looking for, because I know there will be so many problems in my article. And I am hoping people can give me some advice, so I can make it better. Let me know that you know my point and help me to complete it

8. Get Your S*** Together (Reading One) The student's standpoint. There are great professors and many of them are a waste of time and can turn a great class into a horrible one. In order to find out which ones are the good/great professors you have to be in class. I can definitely understand why this student did this where he/she is hedging his/her bets. To maximize his/her experience to get the most out of his/her education. Because well NYU is a very expensive school and this student would be throwing away hard/good money if the professor sucks. The professor's standpoint. I do agree with the professor towards this student's dispectrul approach. Plus a disrepect for other students in the class. The student should not go class hopping interrupting everyone. Also a when a student walks off from a class like the way he/she is doing, it is like giving everyone the middle finger. Possible solutions. 1- Student should find out which classes he/she is planning to take so he/she can schedule a meeting with these professors to get a feel which professors he/she is comfortable of taking. 2 - Instead of class hopping so quickly, just sit in the class for a session and just bear it. If you like the class then great and if not no love lost. Just don't show up and take this professor's classes anymore. Also there are websites that rate professors. I wish I had these when I was in college! Well there was the internet but it was still in its infancy (1994). 3- Schools put many of their classes online. Hopefully the professors the student planning to take have their classes online. The student will get a good preview of what is in store for him/her. The student had a great purpose but a horrible execution. He/she would definitely make a good trader one day. Cut your losses quick. Easy to understand but very hard to execute. And the professor doesn't really understand how the business works sometimes. There are many meetings where people just walk out on each other with a bad taste in everyone's mouths. One student walking out of your class and then the student actually gave an explanation/reason is being pretty diplomatic. What the professor should worry about is more students walking out and not coming back. 9. For my third assignment, I'm going to make a short film to tell the Chinese diet culture. In this semester, the professor gave us some homework and that homework helped us to finish the major assignments. Frist, we understand the actor and figured world by doing homework such like reading article and writing summery which is very important. And then, we had a better start by completing other homework. I think homework is an important part of complete three major assignments.
