The study area is located in SO Spain! includin* Doana (ational &arJ! Doana (atural &arJ and

The area is *enerally flat! but 8ith some undulations in the north! and the eastern third is lar*ely

1:approximately ?;U of all lynx indi iduals 8ere found inside the (ational &arJ boundaries! another 1;U in 1=the ad.acent area! and the rest at some distance from it @&alomares et al$ 1<<1A$ In this study ho8e er! only 1?less than a half of the remainin* lynx indi iduals ha e been detected inside the (ational &arJ! and the species 1<has almost completely disappeared from the southern third of the (ational &arJ$ )nly one photo*raph has %;been obtained in this area! of a female 8hose resident area @8here it is re*ularly detectedA! is located %; Jm %1a8ay$
