Jacob Shaw Portfolio Reflection December 9, 2013 With this portfolio I show my strength as a writer, my attention to detail and

my ability to finish what I start. Each of my essays has been revised based on personal, peer, and teacher feedback. The final versions clearly take a position and effectively organize my information. I consider assignment one and three my strongest pieces. Assignment two is in my opinion my only weakness with the portfolio. For whatever reason I failed to save my final copy with revisions. Because of this, I had to revise my paper weeks after my feedback had been received. Had my changes been saved, I believe my assignment two paper would have utilized more of my feedback which would have improved my paper overall. When I came into this class I already had a good deal of computer knowledge and more specifically web design knowledge. It was however interesting to learn the interface of Wix when developing my portfolio. While building my portfolio I learned that when it comes to writing there is no right way to do things. This portfolio effectively showed me how I am as a writer. It showed my progression as a writer and gave me a good sense of how to become an even better writer. I learned that English doesnt evolve around MLA format and papers do not have to be five paragraphs. I learned that a paper shouldnt be torn apart due to grammar. When looking at my original papers and the revised copy you can see obvious changes that improve my paper and help my readers understand the points I am trying to get across. This portfolio helped me organize my personal progress. In the end this portfolio is a perfect way for me to reflect on where I started and how far I have come from the beginning of the semester. My portfolio is setup in what I consider and logical and productive format. On the homepage I tell a little bit about myself. I highlight my interests and introduce myself as a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Also included on the homepage is a course description. I felt the homepage was a particularly strong place to place the course description because it tells the reader what to expect as they navigate throughout the site. From the homepage my visitors can navigate to the writings page. This page was setup to show work that I completed inside and outside of class. These are smaller assignments that build on the bigger assignments. The bigger assignments each have there own page. On the writings page I have pictures of moodle assignments, and journal entries. Beside each entry is a description that evaluates the point of the assignment and what I learned from each. The Assignment One page displays all content that is relevant to assignment one. This displays my original paper, my peer feedback, teacher feedback, final revision and a reflection on the assignment as a whole. Assignment One consisted of my observations on my figured world. The next page Assignment Two is reflective to the Assignment One page in layout but consists in different content. Assignment Two consists primarily of my view on restaurants and the information that I gained through research. I used my opinions and views on restaurants and Fretwell Caf and compared it with my research to complete this assignment. Assignment Three is the last and final page and it consists of my Final video. For this final assignment I created a video that brings the information I gathered in Assignment one and assignment two. I am proud about the video I created and I believe it accurately depicts the information that I found in assignments one and two. I hope my viewers look through the work that I completed and watch how everything ties together in the final video.
