Lake Shore Drive is a unique road to the nger lakes, due to the fact that it is one of the only streets that follows the shoreline of a lake. Placing the Museum in the center of the development will draw visitors and as a result the businesses along the road will have increased visibility, which will lead to a synergy between the people who frequent the museum, stores and housing structures.

Summer Time | View of The Museum Drumlin Symbolism

These drumlins are intended to be an area of relaxation as well as a small theater/ street performance area. The intent is to have a space large enough for a performance yet intimate enough for people to be comfortable when not being used as a entertainment space.

Pathway Symbolism

The two pathways that run parallel represent the way that the Finger Lakes were formed both in legend and scientically. The wider portion represents the glaciation that formed the topography of the region, and the narrower represents the Ganondagon legend of the serpent and is further represented by a thin ow of water from the museum to the lake

The history of the nger lakes reaches back to the original settlers of the area the Ganondagon, These Native Americans had a very unique explanation of how Canandaigua Lake was formed. It was believed that a large serpent had been terrorizing the local villagers. A set of twins were charged with the killing of the serpent and when they did the body of the massive creatures body impacting with the earth created a large depression in which water lled and formed the lake.

The Finger Lakes Region is well known for its world class wineries and wines. It is possible for such wines to be created because of the topographic and geologic characteristics that the region has. The Glacier formed lakes steep slopes create micro climates for grapes to be grown for use in wine making.

In another History and similar story of the serpent, upon its death the serpent spat out all of the skulls of its victims,.These skulls are interpreted as being the turtle stones that are found in the area.

This plaza extended into the lake represents the serpent that according to legend when killed fell to the earth forming the lake.

These stones represent an enlarged unique type of stone found in the region called concretion stones. These also are associated with the legend and are known as turtle stones due to cracks that look similar to a turtles shell.

The drumlins represent the wine region of the nger lakes, they are symbolic of the deep valleys that create unique micro climates that help develop avor proles for the various wines around the region.

The turtle stones are enlarged versions of much smaller stones, they are associated with the Ganondagon serpent and but along with legend They are related to signicant geologies of the Finger Lakes. These stones are intended to be used as play structures for children. The stones rest in the headwaters of the creek path that runs from the museum to the lake.
