Daily Schedule ENGLISH II
Course Description
During the semester we will read "The Lovely Bones", engage in hot topic debates, write an issues
paper, and read some poignant short stories from the American canon. The course considers
selected authors in American literature from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present.
This course fulfills core requirements and accomplishes various objectives, including the
development of critical reading, writing, and thinking skills.
Course Goals
Through our study with some examples of twentieth-century American fiction, we will:
-learn to read, write, think, and speak critically
-learn to understand, refute, and summarize arguments; formulate and develop logical, well
supported arguments;
-learn to plan, write, edit, and proofread papers
-learn to express thoughts both in written and oral form
Grading Policy
90-100% = A 80-89% = B
70-79%= C 60-69%= D
>60% = F
