Investigation Proposal (National 4) Explain, in detail, two methods that will help investigate one factor that impacts

your performance. To measure my CRE I am going to analyse my movements through a Match Analysis and a Bleep Test. I firstly need to record myself playing a football match. I will look at walking, jogging and sprinting. I will set out my analysis in a table format (see picture 1) and I will place a tally mark in the table every time I see myself doing one of the movements. Each column is separated in two so that I can mark instances in the first and second half. Picture 1 Walking 1 S T 2 N D III Jogging Sprinting

The other test I will use to investigate my level of CRE is the bleep test. The bleep test uses beeps to make me run faster from cone to cone. Cones are set out 20 metres apart and I must reach each cone on or before the next beep. The time between the beeps shortens as the test goes on. Picture 2 shows how the test is set up. Picture 3 shows the table of averages. Picture 2

What are the benefits and limitations of your methods? The match analysis is very easy to carry out and by videoing it I can watch back in slow motion, rewind and pause so I am far less likely to miss any instances. However, my match analysis doesnt tell me how long I do each movement for. With the bleep test, I can compare my score to the table of norms. A limitation of the test is that it is not specific to my sport of football.

Discuss what you predict the outcome will be. I think that I dont sprint as much in the last 20 minutes of a game so my match analysis might show less sprinting in the second half. In the bleep test I think I will score average somewhere around level 7 or 8. If these results in fact appear I will know for sure that my CRE is a weakness and I can begin structuring a training programme based on CRE.
