PIPING PURCHASE SPECIFICATION FOR STEAM TRAPS AND AUTO DRAIN TRAPS 1.0 SCOPE This specification covers the minimum technical requirements for Design, Materials, Inspection, Testing, Shipping and supply Steam Traps & Auto Drain Traps.

GENERAL 2.1 General Requirements 1. Steam Traps & Auto Drain Traps shall be made in accordance with specification / data sheets/bill of material attached with the Material Requisition. Material specification as well as inspections and tests shall conform to the requirements of applicable ASTM Standards. Steam Traps with internal strainer & Auto Drain Traps their dimension, tolerances, chemical composition, physical properties, hardness, heat treatment, non-destructive testing, hydro testing and other requirements shall conform to relevant codes / standards as specified in the material requisition. Deviations from the above, if any, shall be specifically highlighted by the Supplier in deviation list attached with the Material Requisition.

Submittals A. Certificate of Compliance Supplier shall furnish Certification of Compliance to all requirements of the Purchase Order as required by the Supplier Drawing & Data Commitment Form (attached to PO). The certification shall include Owners PO number, Item Code Numbers, name and address of supplier and shall be certified by the Suppliers Q.A. Manager or authorized agent. B. Manufacturer Test Reports (MTR) A complete MTR (Manufacturer Test Report) showing results of all chemistry and physical tests shall be available for impact tested steels, chrome steel, stainless steel, and nickel alloy traps. The MTR shall include, as a minimum, name of supplier, name of prime material manufacturer and plant location, Owners PO number, Item Code Number, material specification, grade and class, actual test results of chemical analysis and mechanical properties and certified by Quality Control Manager or representative. MTRs shall be furnished to buyer only as required by the Supplier Drawing & Data Commitment Form (attached to PO). C. Supply of Drawings

PIPING PURCHASE SPECIFICATION FOR STEAM TRAPS AND AUTO DRAIN TRAPS 1. Supplier shall furnish with quotation dimensional drawings or catalog cuts for all traps. Requirements for submittal of drawings after award of order shall be as required by the Supplier Drawing & Data Commitment Form (attached to PO). Dimensional drawings and catalogue cuts shall include: (1) All Traps. b. Traps published catalog dimensional data are not available. c. Nonstandard dimensions. d. End-to-end dimensions for traps. 3. Drawings and catalogue cuts shall include materials of construction with referenced material specification (i.e. ASTM). Total weight of the trap shall be shown on the drawings and catalogue cuts.

Maximum Field Pressure Test Supplier shall furnish the maximum allowable hydrostatic test pressures traps can be subjected to, during field pressure testing.

Certificates for traps shall contain the results of all tests, examinations and checks and the following additional information. Manufacturer Material grade Lot number Code and standard numbers Chemical composition of steel Inside diameter Pressure rating Application temperature range Heat treatment conditions

Operation and maintenance manuals shall comprise a longitudinal sectional drawing, dimensional drawing with all connecting dimensions, data on material of major trap assemblies and service life. Vendor shall arrange to obtain necessary certificates in Form III-C of Indian Boiler Regulation Act, duly tested, accepted and countersigned by IBR Authority. The certificate shall be submitted in original along with the supply.

DESIGN REQUIREMENT 3.1 Allowable pressure drop across traps shall be certified by vendor along with the offer. If asked specifically, vendor shall furnish pressure drop calculations. All Steam Traps shall be provided with internal strainer. Type of traps shall be as specified in Material Requisition. Supplier shall furnish maximum allowable hydrostatic test pressure traps can be subjected to, during field pressure testing. Sizes of traps in Bill of Material are pipe nominal bore in mm, where traps are to be installed. Actual trap size shall be indicated by manufacturer to suit the service condition. Construction details and other requirements of Steam Traps shall be as per approved drawing/standard. Parts subject to wear and tear shall be suitably hardened. Supplier to furnish the performance curve indicating the capacity in mass / hour at various differential pressure across the trap. Castings / Forgings purchased from India / Indian suppliers shall be from OWNER approved foundries / forging shops.

FLANGE DIMENSIONS, THICKNESS, FACING. 4.1 4.2 Flange dimensions shall conform to ASME B16.5. All Flanges, Flat face or raised face, to have serrated finish, as specified in Piping Material Specification.

SW OR FLANGED END CONNECTIONS. Steam Traps to have Socket weld or Flanged end connections, as specified in Material Requisition.

IDENTIFICATION & TAGGING A. MARKING 1. Each trap shall be marked in strict accordance with the standard referenced for manufacture.

Traps with a preferred flow direction shall have the direction of flow cast or steel stamped on the trap body. Special service like IBR shall be stamped on each item.

TAGGING 1. Each Trap shall be fitted with a rust-resistant metal tag securely attached with no fewer than 6 twists of stainless steel wire. Paper or plastic tags are unacceptable. Each tag shall be clearly stamped with the Item Code Number and the PO Number. Ink or paint is not acceptable for marking. The Item Code Number is the number appearing directly above the first line of each Item Purchase Description on the Bills of Material. The minimum dimensions for tags and wire shall be in accordance with the following: a. Size of tag Round Rectangular

PAINTING Surface prepartion: All Carbon Steel surfaces shall be sand blasted to SA 2 SSPC 10. All IBR certified traps shall be paineted red. Painting shall be suitable for coastal environment. Stainless steel surfaces, internal surfaces & finished surfaces such as flanges shall not be painted.

GURANTEE Supplier shall provide the performance & mechanical gurantee for the requirements furnished in the datasheets of this inquiry. The Warranty period for supplier execution is the earlier of 12 months following performance testing or 18 months after mechanical completion. INSPECTION AND TESTING Owner or his authorized representative will carry out stage wise or final inspection. All assistance shall be provided for the same and timely co-ordination shall be the responsibility of the supplier. Vendor shall submit his proposed inspection and test plan along with the quotation/ proposal.

10.0

PREPARATION OF SHIPMENT 8.1 All traps shall be protected from rust, corrosion, mechanical damage during storage at works, transportation / shipment and delivery to Owner. Unless export packing is specified, trap may be shipped loose or packed in a box or crate. If export packing is specified, Trap shall be shipped in wooden boxes or crates, individually or collectively in a manner to prevent shifting within the container. Packing shall be suitable for protection against sea atmosphere. Flange facings shall be protected over the entire gasket surface with high impact plastic covers and secured with lock plugs or steel strapping Plastic end protectors of at least of an inch (12 mm) thickness secured with at least 4 bolts or with steel strapping are also acceptable. Card board protectors (which absorb water) are unacceptable. 8.5 Carbon steel flanged end TRAPS shall have flange facing coaked with a peelable or solvent removal rust preventive coating before the end protectors are applied. Threaded and socket weld openings shall be closed with plastic or metal protectors to exclude dirt and other foreign matter from the interior of the traps

DOCUMENTATION Following certificates shall be furnished along with supply of Steam Traps Dimensional Check Material Test Certificates Hydrostatic Test Certificates IBR Certificates in form III-C.
