The 5G NR ( New Radio) Use Cases
[ standardized by 3GPP ] [ www.3gpp.org]
5G NR supports three emerging use cases:
 enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), [ Data rate of 20 Gbps is targeted]
 ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLC), [ targeted for smart Factory, smart vehicle]
 massive machine-type communications (mMTC).
The first NR specification (3GPP Release 15) supports increased data throughput and greater capacity for eMBB and
Massive IoT (mMTC) devices usable for Smart Home.
3GPP Release 16 (December 2019) supports URLLC with coordinated multi-point (CoMP) for Smart Factory /
Vehicle.

Google launches 2nd-gen Nest Hub smart display: The second-generation
Nest Hub smart display costs $99.99 ( ₹7,248 approx.). 16 Mar 2021

The new Nest Hub smart display looks and feels quite similar to the original device that was launched almost a year-and-a-half back. It
features the same floating display design that is akin to Google’s smart display series but the company has made one critical change
that sets it apart from its predecessor. It has added the Soli-radar chip -- the one that made a debut with the Pixel 4 smartphone -- to
its second-generation Nest Hub smart display. This chip makes this device smart and better even as it remains devoid of the camera.
 The Soli radar chip gives the 2nd-gen Nest Hub smart display an opt-in Sleep
Sensing feature.
This feature uses Motion Sense that is powered by Soli low-energy radar technology
to analyse how the person closest to the display is sleeping, based on their
movement and breathing all without a camera or a wearable.
It can also detect sleep disturbances like coughing and snoring or the light and
temperature changes in the room with the device’s built-in microphones and
ambient light and temperature sensors.
Every morning users receive a personalised sleep summary on their display, or you
can view your sleep data anytime on the Nest Hub by asking, “Hey Google, how did I
sleep?” This feature is available as a free preview on the 2nd-gen Nest Hub until
next year.
Google said that Sleep Sensing can also connect to users’ Google Fit app on Android
and iOS devices so they can see their sleep summaries alongside their other health
and wellness information.

How to Make end-to-end VoLTE / Vo5G calls with two
phones ?

 VoLTE CALLs using Keysight Approach

Vo5G Has Been Standardized Together with 5G

What Is Vo5G?

 3GPP has specified that 5G uses the 4G voice/video communication architecture [ VoLTE] and
still provides voice/ video communication services based on the IMS [ IP Multimedia Subsystem] .
The 4G radio access technology is LTE, and the voice/video over the LTE network is called VoLTE.
The 5G radio access technology is NR, and the voice/video over the 5G network is called
voice/video over NR (VoNR). VoLTE and VoNR are different access modes for IMS voice/video
communication services.
 In the 4G voice solution, VoLTE is the target voice/video communication solution for 4G
networks. With the expansion of 4G network coverage and maturity of the terminal ecosystem
considered, global carriers have experienced the evolution from CSFB [Circuit Switched FallBack]
to VoLTE [ Packet Switched Network] .
 The 5G voice/video communication solution faces the options and evolution process shown in
the following figure.

Making Voice Calls with VoLTE Phones
 This section provides instructions for establishing an IMS/SIP voice call
between a VoLTE-enabled UE and the E6966B IMS-SIP client, using the E7515A
UXM wireless test set as the LTE/LTE-A network emulator.
 Instructions are also included for using two UXMs to test end-to-end VoLTE
calls between two UEs
Making end-to-end calls with two VoLTE phones
Using two UXMs and the Keysight IMS-SIP server connected to an IPv6 router, end-
toend calls can be made between VoLTE UEs. A router is needed to connect the
two UXMs with the IMS-SIP server PC. (See also Router configuration.) An Ethernet
switch or hub will not enable this configuration; a router is required.
