2013: HIGHLIGHTS
The bottom line at the top: an extraordinarily productive year!

Performances: Six new productions 1. Finding Ananda: A tribute to Swami Vivekananda in the 150th birth anniversary year, seeking the relevance of is life and work today 2. Robots Unlimited: A Theatre-in-Education production with a student cast in . Wipros Environment Education programme. 3. Beware the Man Eating Chicken: Another Theatre-in-Education production with a BLT cast, but for a student audience 4. Inherit the Wind as a collaborative production with Jagriti 5. Moliere Tonight! From the 2013 Summer Project on Theatre (SPOT), performed at Alliance Francaise, Bangalore and Mysore. 6. The Court Jester: The Tales of Tenali Rama. The annual flagship Childrens Theatre production, also serving as a fundraiser for our charity partner, the Association for the Mentally Challenged.

The History of Ideas programme 1. Repeat performances of The Prophet and the Poet, based on the exchanges between Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore 2. Childrens Theatre and Schools programme The annual flagship programme was the super hit Tales of Tenali Rama, also done as a fundraiser for BLTs partner the Association for the Mentally Challenged. The team had the unique experience of opening the play in Ooty! Designed as a mobile production it can be expected to have many more shows in the months ahead.

Production of Robis Garden in London critical acclaim 2. Conversion of classic productions into Storytelling Theatre format for wider dissemination. An arrangement with Club Mahindra to perform in their holiday resorts so far in South India. A theatre gurukul We have concluded an agreement with one of the oldest hotels in Bangalore by which a charming old cottage in the hotel premises will be renovated and turned into a Theatre Gurukul. There are gurukuls for music and dance. Nothing like that exists for theatre. It should be a pathbreaking programme. We will take kids of about 10 years and accompany them till age 16 in theatre appreciation and training. In true gurukul tradition they will get a pretty comprehensive exposure to music, dance, yoga, the plastic arts, crafts (eg. woodwork) and, of course, acting skills as well.
