The LACIP PMU organized a field visit for the BMZ Mission in the
District Charsadda on the 9th of April, 2013. The team visiting Charsadda comprised of PPAF C.E.O Qazi Azmat Isa along, KfW Director Anna Christine Janke, KfW Program Manager Haroon Razzaq, Senior Group Head PGS Zaffar Pervez Sabri and GM LACIP Masood Khalid. PPAFs Partner Organization SRSP facilitated the team in the field and called upon community organizations to give presentations on the impacts of the CPI Schemes constructed in their village; the Mission also met with livestock asset transfer beneficiaries in the Union Council Mandani.

LACIP signs MoU with (ATIN) Applied Technologies Institute (NLC)


LACIP signed a MoU with Applied Technologies Institute (National Logistics Cell) (ATIN) on 17th of April, 2013. ATIN is a subsidiary of National Logistics Cell Pakistan. This MOU would enable specific need based vocational trainings to be provided to the selected community members in the identified areas through ATIN in collaboration with Partner Organizations under LACIP. The initiative will have a direct impact on the trainees livelihood as they will be trained in advanced laboratories with highly technical machinery which will build their capacity in accordance with up to date technology being used in various industries. Once the community members complete their training, they will be awarded degrees and certifications which will exponentially increase their chances to find employment overseas as well as within the country.

Multi Sectoral Planning Brainstorming Session held by LACIP PMU

The Multi Sectoral Planning (MSP) brainstorming session was held at PPAF on the 17th of April, 2013. HELVETAS Consultant, Mr. Mehmood Hemani acted as lead moderator where he created an open forum discussion for innovative ideas and models of MSP to be implemented at the Union Council level in the LACIP Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Ms. Arjumand Nizami, Mr. Nadeem Bukhari and Ms. Roshan Ara from Swiss Intercooperation gave their input regarding various tools to carry out comprehensive market assessments and determine value chains. As a result of the brainstorming session, it was decided that the District Haripur would be chosen as a pilot District under LACIP where the proposed MSP would be implemented over the coming months.

Coordination Meeting of LACIP Livelihood Component Partner Organizations with Deputy Director NLC
The purpose of the coordination meeting between LACIPs Partner Organizations and the NLC Deputy Director Mr. Zeeshan Hashmi was to introduce the programme of training community members from LACIPs five Districts. The Deputy Director NLC explained that the process of selecting the right candidates for training was imperative and that the trainees would be divided into batches so as to provide comprehensive training to a large number of community members. Mr. Zeeshan presented and answered queries on the level and types of trainings that would be conducted over a period of 3 to 6 months in the city of Dina.

Mr. Johannes Heickmann from KfW holds a meeting with LACIP PMU
KfW Project Manager Crisis Response Asia Mr. Johannes Heickmann convened a meeting with LACIP PMU at PPAF on 20th February, 2013. Present at the meeting were, Project Manager KfW Mr. Haroon Razzaq Qureshi, Senior Group Head Mr. Zaffar Pervez Sabri, General Manager LACIP Mr. Masood Khalid . The agenda of the meeting was to contemplate and discuss the level of progress of Partner Organizations in all the Districts, and which measures should be initiated in order to increase overall utilization of the Project in a shorter span of time. Mr. Masood Khalid introduced the idea of LACIPs own Management Information System database. He further explained that it would be uniquely tailored to fit all the reporting and monitoring requirements of the Donor in terms of speedy access to monthly and quarterly progress reports on the web and other detailed analysis regarding all the components under LACIP.

Shooting of LACIP Documentary in District D.I. Khan

Value chain exercise with Farmers Enterprise groups from Charsadda

Mr. Martin Dietz of Swiss Intercooperation held an exercise with community members regarding value chain linkages being created by the farmers enterprise groups in the District Charsadda. He explained the advantages of common interest groups and how livelihood enhancement goals could be accomplished through the right linkages within the local markets.

The Interactive Resource Center (IRC) team is developing the documentary for all the five Districts under LACIP. Shooting for the District of D.I Khan was completed in the month of February, where LACIPs D. I. Khan Partner Organizations assisted the team in the field. Footage of Interviews of community members, asset transfer beneficiaries and shots of physical infrastructure schemes in seven Union Councils was collected by the IRC team.

Session on formation of District Development Forums in D.I. Khan


LACIP PMU held a discussion session with all D.I. Khan Partner Organizations on 19th of March, 2013 to initiate the formation of District Development forums. The participants from the Partner Organizations explained the various issues and hurdles prevalent at the District level and how they can be overcome. To increase coordination amongst all the Partner Organizations working under LACIP in D.I. Khan, it was decided that coordination meetings between the Partner Organizations in D.I. Khan would be held each month to pace up the process

Elections begin in Community Organizations in Charsadda and Buner

LACIPs Management Information System (MIS) will be deployed online in the month of June, 2013 Documentaries for the Districts of Swabi and D.I. Khan have been completed and will be uploaded on the LACIP Webpage.

Through the initiative taken by Ayyaz Khan and Taimur Jehangir of LACIP PMU, Partner Organizations under LACIP, SPADO and EPS have commenced elections within their newly formed community organizations by adapting a voting system with symbols and logos assigned to candidates in the villages.

LACIP PMU visits SRSP in Charsadda


LACIP PMU team of Ayyaz Khan, Nasrullah Khan and Zeeshan Azam held a meeting with SRSP field staff in Charsadda to discuss issues regarding the Livelihood component progress and expediting the process of asset transfers.
