Legislative Update: As Chairperson of the House Health Committee, I have oversight of bills affecting the health and well-being of our community. Hot topics this year include continued implementation of the Affordable Care Act, ongoing concerns with the structure and sustainability of the Hawaii Health Connector, the State hospital system, funding for community mental health services, coverage for autism services, pediatric dental care, and anti-tobacco initiatives. The last day for introduction of bills by legislators is Thursday, January 23, 2014. MAKIKI TOWN HALL MEETING Monday, February 24, 2014 6:00-8:00 pm Makiki Community Library (To be confirmed.) Join Representative Della Au Belatti and Senator Brian Taniguchi for a legislative town hall meeting. Discussion will include a question and answer session about the 2014 legislative session and an opportunity for community input on future plans for Makiki District Park and the states efforts to develop a Makiki State Library.
