Alu Like Hana Lima Scholarship


The Hana Lima Scholarship provides financial assistance to students participating in a vocational or technical education program for occupations that can provide a living wage. This scholarship is available to students in vocational programs that lead to a specific segment of employment. This $1,500 scholarship gives financial assistance toward tuition and fees, books, and other required tools or uniforms for a vocational program. The Hana Lima Scholarship is a need-based award with preference given to nontraditional students: Single parents, disabled, houseless, sole-income providers, previously incarcerated and wards of the court. Students pursuing a major in Liberal Arts are not eligible for this scholarship as the Hana Lima Scholarship supports students who have declared and are committed to a specific program of study.

Eligibility:
As an applicant, you must meet the following criteria: Be of Native Hawaiian Ancestry Be a resident of the State of Hawaii Be enrolled at least half time in a vocational degree or certification program in one of the approved educational institutions in Hawaii listed on the application.

Applications are now being accepted for the Spring 2014 term.

Candidates are evaluated based on scholarly excellence, commitment to helping women and girls through service in their communities, professions or other fields of research.

AARP Foundation Women's Scholarship Program


www.aarp.org Eligibility requirements: Women, age 40 or over by March 31 of the application year, who are able to demonstrate financial need and are enrolled in an accredited school or technical program within 6 months of the scholarship award date. Application period begins February 1 and ends March 31.

General Federation of Womens Clubs


The General Federation of Womens Clubs is a national leader in the fight to end domestic violence. GFWC implemented the Success for Survivors Scholarship in 2011.Scholarships of $2,500 are available to help survivors of intimate partner abuse obtain a post-secondary education that will offer them the chance to reshape their future by securing employment and gaining personal independence. Kaplan Universitys Single-Parent Scholarship


Reduces tuition for eligible undergraduate students who can document that they are currently a single parent. You may qualify for a tuition reduction of $500 per term which can add up to $8,500 in savings on your Kaplan University bachelors degree tuition or $4,500 in savings on your Kaplan University associates degree tuition. Unlike student loans, these forms of financial assistance do not have to be repaid. All of the funds you receive apply directly toward paying your tuition. Kaplan University is accredited and offers degrees and certificates in the areas of arts and sciences, business and management, IT health sciences, education, fire sciences and emergency management, or tuition reductions. Womens Independence Scholarship Program


The Womens Independence Scholarship Program, Inc. began as a program of The Sunshine Lady Foundation (SLF) in 1999 and for 8 years provided scholarships to women survivors of intimate partner abuse who were change their lives through education. In December of 2007, SLF Founder and President Dorris Buffet announced her intention to endow WISP as its own entity. On July 1, 2008 WISP, INC. emerged as a sister organization with a mission to enhance efforts to end domestic violence by offering access to higher education. WISP is available nationally to women who have left an abusive domestic situation and who are pursuing an education to provide economic independence for themselves and their children. Since its inception in 1999, the Womens Independence Scholarship has awarded more than $16 million in scholarships to some 2,000 women across the United States.
