Nazis looted valuable works of art from Picasso, Matisse, and Chagall that now has been found years later in a mans storage closet. Investigators estimate the works of art are around 1.35 billion dollars. During a custom search, the eighty year old man, Hildebrand Gurlitt, was caught carrying tons of money and investigators decided to look further into it.

Finding treasure doesnt just happen in books such as Treasure Island, or The Maltese Falcon. Historians, artists, detectives, and adventure seekers would be fascinated by reading this news article. It would also interest book lovers because it is a real life adventure.

He had to drop out of high school in his first year to help provide for his family. He became a private detective mainly recovering stolen goods, and soon joined the army to fight in World War I. Afterwards, he was released home, because he had a rare disease, Spanish Influenza, which trigged tuberculosis. He enlisted in World War II and released for the same reason. His last year was spent in poverty, but during his lifetime he was one of the highest paid screenwriters in Hollywood.

This article informs not just readers of Hammetts books but anyone who is interested in learning about his life outside of writing novels. He was a man with strong opinions, strong skin, and a strong family. Hammett is known for his detective novels including as The Maltese Falcon, The Glass Key, and Red Harvest but he should also be remembered for his dedication to our country.

are classified under this genre. These novels were 20th century fiction but have changed since World War II to be considered more realistic police novels.

Some of the best action novels were written before World War II because of the excitement that was throughout them. Many car chases or mass shootings did not happen every day and reading a novel with this criteria excited people. We need to realize that these novels were some of the best, and they were action packed, full of adventure, and love.

Women in films, poems, and novels are the innocent ones but in some cases their looks are deceiving. Nicholson critics Miss. Wonderly in The Maltese Falcon by stating she is a black widow or a Venus fly-trap because of her mischievous ways of deceiving men. You should not fall for a lady because of her looks; you should find out what shes looking for before falling into her trap.

Never judge a book by its cover. Women are books that are often hard to read. Some seem like Angels on the outside but on the inside they are more like the Devils. The moral of reading this article was looks are deceiving, especially in women.

Rhea and Wilmer seem to be like the same person. Rhea is the daughter of Gutman, who shows up once in the novel. Wilmer worked for Gutman. Their physical features are similar except Rhea is a woman and Wilmer is a man. They have a lot of the similar characteristics but few people are able to see how these two people are the same.

Did Hammett know that he was using the same character twice? In many cases an author would know he was using similar features for a new character but in this instance I do not think he knew. In this article it would bring awareness to the readers that sometimes there is more behind the text; you just cannot always see it.

World War II, and later he because a private detective. Many of his other books were published in a magazine beforehand. He passed away in 1961due to lung cancer but he lived an adventurous life and is still remembered today as the father of hard-boiled detective novels.

This article offers insight on how Hammett lived and how it reflected his works of literature. We are informed from the article that Hammett worked as a private detective, he probably wrote his mystery novels on past experiences. He must have found a valuable item such as a diamond necklace giving him the idea to write The Maltese Falcon.
