QUESTION 2 a) The differential equation of a continuous-time system is given as y"\t) + ay{t) + a3y'(t) + a<y(t) = b0x(t) + *'(0 + b2x"(t) with x(t) as the input and y(t) as the output. i) ii) Obtain the observer canonical form simulation diagram, Using q(t) as state variable, obtain the state-space equation. Begins with qrft) at the output of the left integrator. (10 marks)
b)
Consider the electrical network given in Figure Q2. i) Obtain the state-space equation of this network with state variable Xi(t) as the voltage across the capacitor C, state variable x2(t) as the current through inductor L and the output y(t) as the voltage across resistor R2. (8 marks) Explain why the capacitor voltage and inductor current are selected as state variables? Why not the resistor voltage? (2 marks)
