Mission and Values
CLIC was founded in 2013 by like-minded students within the School of Accounting and
Finance who wanted to bridge the gap between the professional development for students
heading down the industry path and the benefits and opportunities for students presented by
the CPA merger in Ontario/Canada.
----------Mission ----------
Our Mission as the management team of the inaugural Chartered for Leadership in Industry
Conference is to provide our delegates with a background in the competencies of the CPA
designation and the CFO suite, and to provide students with an integrative learning platform
and an all-around professional, educational and social experience of a lifetime.
Vision
Our Vision as the inaugural management team of the first Chartered for Leadership in
Industry Conference is to create a foundation for a home-grown conference that will show off
our campus, city, culture, and ultimately, students to both senior undergraduate and MBA
students from across Canada. As the Conference grows, it will continue to instill
industry-focused values to Waterloo and external students that presents our delegates with the
skills, connections, and opportunities to pursue a career in accounting and corporate finance in
industry.
Objective ---------
our ultimate goal in creating the Chartered for Leadership in Industry Conference is to
provide an industry-focused conference to Waterloo and external students that presents our
delegates with the skills, connections, and opportunities to pursue a career in accounting and
corporate finance in industry.

The CLIC into Industry Program
While there are general business, accounting, finance, and designation-related
conferences, there has never been one that spans all these areas. The University of Waterloo's
Chartered for Leadership Conference will mark the first conference that celebrates accounting
and finance in industry. Students will be able to "CUC into Industry" with an entirely new
conference brand and area of professional development.
Date and Timing
The inaugural Chartered for Leadership in Industry Conference will be hosted by the newly
renovated Kitchener-Waterloo Conference Centre in the heart of Downtown Kitchener and the
School of Accounting and Finance at the University of Waterloo on Friday, September 19th, to
Sunday, September 21t, 2014.
The Program at a glimpse
All in all, the conference will bridge an educational gap at the University of Waterloo's
School of Accounting and Finance. CUC will being professional development, networking, and
career related opportunities to accounting and finance students who have lacked the creative
outlet towards their desired industry path. With 4 keynotes, 12 industry specific workshops, and
1 integrative case competition, it will mark the first time that the important role of corporate
finance and accounting in industry comes to the forefront at the University of Waterloo.
Our Friday includes 8 different workshops that each of our corporate sponsors will present
twice to two different groups of students. This way, our students and your representatives will
be more engaged with one another in a smaller, more intimate setting, rather than a
lecture-based workshop to hundreds of students. Between your firms workshops, your
representatives will be able to relax and enjoy a tour of our new School of Accounting and
Finance building with senior leadership from the School, in addition to enjoying lunch on us!
Our Friday workshops are slated to focus on Accounting Policy, Tax & Transfer Pricing, Risk
Management & Hedging, and Capital Structure; we want to learn about what you do in your
corporate finance department!
The CLIC into Industry Program
Our corporate partners joining us on the Saturday will have the opportunity run their own
workshop for all of our students throughout the morning. This will give our Saturday partners
the opportunity to showcase more of their senior leadership as our Saturday moves into a focus
on the CFO Suite. On our Saturday we want to learn about what makes your department unique
and learn more about how your firm shapes the leadership of the CFO position. Our Saturday
workshops are slated to focus on the CFO in the Strategic Interface, the CFO in Investor
Relations, Entering the CFO Suite, and a CFO Day in the Life.
Throughout the CUC into Industry experience, students will have the opportunity to:
> become more well versed with the industry side of accounting and the CPA designation
explore additional career avenues, including the path to becoming a CFO
> network with established industry professionals from over 16 approved training offices
learn about the background of the CFO suite and inside to Financial Executives
International.
> develop integrative skills and a chance at $2,500 in our Integrative Case Competition
meet and foster relationships with other like-minded students from Waterloo and other
Ontario schools
> take part in our Championship Saturday featuring not only an integrative accounting and
finance case in our Rogers Case Competition but also our exclusive networking sessions
throughout the day
''As Director of the School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) at the University of Waterloo, I
want to extend an invitation to join the movement and be a part of the Chartered for Leadership
in Industry Conference (CUC).
CUC will bring together Canada's best and brightest senior accounting and finance
students in a unique and unprecedented conference that will offer an unforgettable
undergraduate student experience. As well, this will be the first conference to celebrate
corporate accounting and finance, embracing the strengths of the incoming CPA merger.
The CUC sponsorship package offers numerous opportunities for you and your company to

support will make an important contribution to the formation of the next generation of
Canadian accounting and finance professionals and future leaders. It will provide CUC with the
resources it needs to provide a unique and stimulating learning environment for its students and
realize its unique value proposition.
I wholeheartedly believe that you will be delighted with your involvement with the
Chartered for Leadership in Industry Conference and that your support will lead to strong
relationships and unique advantages for your company. '
