IMPROVING EDUCATION IN NEW ZEALAND
INTRODUCTION
New Zealand primary and secondary schools education system is falling behind as their
knowledge management system is not quite effective, as schools reports sent to parents
fail in terms of their clarity ,identification of childs next learning steps and ways families
could help their child at home. The education and science committee in New Zealand are
seeking for a greater digital learning environment for 21
st
century learning, therefore we have
a solution, and its an application called TeachMe which is effectively a Knowledge
Management System. This application will help students and teachers understand the
education curriculum much better, as all homework and quizzes will be uploaded on a
database which teachers and parent can access to check their childs progress and provide
feedback.
3. BUSINESS SECTION
3.1 Vision
My vision is to create an application that will improve the basic ability of all students in all
schools throughout New Zealand and prevent students from falling behind in education.
3.2 Industry Analysis: Teachme
Industry: Knowledge management system. A software that will hold the database
of students records in each school.
Force: High/Low: Justification:
Buyer power: Low The buyer power would be low because most schools
in New Zealand would not have any choices to
purshase this application.
Supplier power: High The supplier would high because TeachMe will be the
first and only application with this features and
software. Schools in New Zealand will have only have
one choice, which is TeachMe.

3
Threat of new entrants: Low Threat of new entrants would be low as
developing this application will take a while as
this application has to be first experimented on a
group before lauching. Therefore it would be hard
for new competitors to enter this market as this
would also need an approving form the Ministry of
Education in New Zealand.
Threat of substitutes: Low Threat of subsitutes would be low because
TeachMe will be the only application with these
features, therefore schoools will find it difficult to
switch programs since TeachMe will have all the
knowledege management system in one
application.
Rivalry among existing
competitors:
Low
Rivalry among existing competitor would be low
because competition will be complacent since
TeachMe will offer a one of a kind software which
companies in New Zealand dont have.

Overall attractiveness of the industry: TeachMe has potential to be a profitable company as
this application will help many students in New Zealand schools to improve their
understanding on various courses.
3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs
Teachmes customers would be targerted at schools and universities, this is because this
application will be used by the students as they will store and do regular tests and quizzes.
Teachers would be another customer as they will use this application to view the students
results and give feedback on their progress. Parents will use this application to review their
childs results and help on the areas they leak.

3.4 The Product and Service
This application will allow the teachers to view individual student progress and compare it to
the rest of the class.Teachers will be able to make more informed decisions about what they
teach and who need the most help. Therefore teachers dont need to manually input all the
students results from pervious exams which takes considerable time. As clsss sizes are
continuing to increase , this software will help teachers cope, due to the ability of teachers to
clearly track the learning progress of an individual student and will be compared to the
learning progress of the classroom. If few students are struggling with a specific subject
area, then exercises can be tailored for those students, removing the need to do this for the
entire class. Parents will be also able to view their childs results and progress, this will
enable them to help their child at home, parents could also communicate with the teachers
and discuss what the student needs most help in.
3.5 Suppliers and Partners
The suppliers needed for this application would be an internet provider which is Vodafone,
this is because Teachme is operated via internet ,as it is a cloud based system. Therefore
web data needs to be purchased to store all the students information.
3.6 Strategy: Board Market, Cost Leadership
Teachme will be focused at a board market , as this application will be provided to most
schools and universities in New Zealand. It will also be cost leadership because the price of
this software will be low compared other competitors in the market. The desired goal for this
software is to help students improve their grades and understand their classes much better.
3.7 Value Chain Activity: Technology Development
Technology development is the most important key value chain to my organisation because
Teachme will provide technologies that support a creative software. This will also allow my
application to be more effective as technology development will increase the productivity of
this software thus by reducing costs of teacher hours and adding value. Research and
development to advance this software and the use of internet provides 24/7 access to the
customers.

3.8 Business Processes
Customer facing processes
Customer facing processes would be the most important business process for this software
because customers are our first priority as they are the reason how this application will be
only effective if they use it. This process will allow the customers which are the schools and
universities in New Zealand make an inquiry about the product, as they will be interested in
this new technology, in which they will request for an order.

Marketing and Sales processes
Another business process would be marketing and sales , as Teachme will be a new
application in New Zealand education , marketing of this product is extremely important as
attracting new customers will gain the reputation of my company. When lauching Teachme,
their will be a promotion for one months free trial , as this will interest and encourage most
schools and universities to give it a try. Their will be also campaigns held in different
locations in New Zealand at various schools just to advertise this new application which
would therefore increase the processing sales.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion , this application will ensure that students learning progress will improve as
students will be more user friendly to this application which will allow them to gain
knowleage much faster and effectivity. TeachMe does this by providing parents and
teachers valuable information about individual students results and progress , which allows
teachers to focus on a specific area of in which students leak in knowledge. Our vision is to
improve the education system in New Zealand by making it more effective.
