PRESI DENT ' S COL UMN
Fredy's Back! That's not the one on Elm Street, for all you
Halioweeners, but right here at P.O. Box 99. For those of
you who read the TRL masthead in the September issue and
wondered whether there was a coup or an overtlirow of
TRRC's government, sorry, nothing so exciting; it was just an
old listing inadvertently printed. But, because we are sort of
a democracy, if you'd care to legally oust the current board -
now's your chance: Nominations go to Pete Meisler by the
November 10th meeting (7:30 P.M. at Teatowm). Elections
are at the December meeting.
A Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Ed! goes to
Myles O'Rhodes for all the concern, time, and effort on
behalf of the "NYC Marathon List of 24," who were sub
jected, rejected, and dejected (some even got the application
checks back-no-nae-never-and-get-out-of here!), but they're
all IN now, bringing the TRRC total marathoners on Novem
ber 14th to 88, and we need "only 40" to score ($500
awar ded f or 40 cl ub member s under 4 hour s f or our
second year?!?!) See you on the bus, Gus and at the party,
Ar t i e.
Our annual awards and marathon story-telling dinner
will be at the Colonial Restaurant on Friday, November 19th
hosted by Steve and Katy Quinn - BE THERE!
The third leg of the age group X-C races will be at
Blue Mountain on Sunday, November 7th; then on Thursday,
November 11 at 1:00 P.M. is the Thanks To Our Vets 5 K
(See Tony Galfano for details).
December is always a busy month, so why should
Taconi c be di f f er ent ? We st ar t wi t h Dave O' Tool e' s 4X3M
cross coimtry relay at Blue Mountain on Sunday, December 5
at 10:30 A.M., followed by the lost weekend - the TRRC
Christmas Party, Saturday, December 11, 7:30 P.M. (See
Fredy Low), the two person relay (20+7 M), Sunday, 12/12,
8:00 A.M. (See Brian Wheaton/Dan Caffrey), aiid then at
11:00 A.M. the always popular (snow or shine) Couples
Relayall at Blue Mountain Reservation.
Quickies, so to speak - Congrats to Greg
Diamond for his rst win at the JDF 5K at Pepsi-
SUNY, and, just in: Myles broke the big 4011 OK at
Rockiand in 39:28. He also qualied for Boston at
Dutchess. Big thanks to Lui (coach!) for all the PRs.
Hope this year's marathon is your best!
See ya' out there. Fredy Low.
A T T E N T I O N
AL L RACE DI RECTORS!
The yearly Race Director's coordination meeting will
be held on December 8, 8:30 P.M., at Teatown,
following the regularly scheduled TRRC monthly
meeting. Please make every effort to be there. Any
questions, call Fredy Low: 628-1373.
The 16th Annual Biathlon: What A Day!
It was a great day. The
multicolored balloons were still in
place from the night before, and the
sun was bright, making for a com
fortably warm morning. It was just
right for the Taconic Road Runners'
16th Annual Biathlon. And, thanks
to the numerous volunteers: Pete,
Carol, Pat, Karen, Debi, John, Ed,
Tom, Rudi, Tony, Joe, Nick,
Melanie, Hank, Steve, Pearce, and
Mary - my love, Joanne - my boat
companion, Kevin - my T-Shirt
designer and the lifeguards, every
thing clicked. Thanks one and all.
You were great!
While I'd like to write more
about the event itself, I can't,
because, candidly, I didn't see much
of it. But, I can tell you that over the
last 16 years, there has never been a
closer nish for 1st place. It was a
fantastic sight, with the spectators

loudly and joyously cheering on two
unidentiable athletes, each match
ing the other, stroke for stroke, over
the last 100 yards, as John Albanese
and Don Stanford pressed each other
right to the edge of the beach. They
didn't know each other before the
event, but they do now! If they come
back next year, who knows, a photo
nish possibly? Great job, guys!
Although Tom Neeson was
the odds-on candidate for the "lead
bathing suit award," entering the
water 4th overall at 17:47 and
nishing at 34:48, his greatly
improved swimming ability did him
in, losing the dubious title to Bob
Lance, who entered the water 7th
overall at 18:21, but came out at
38: 05.
This was my rst year as the
Race Director. Without having had
the opportunity to observe Howie
Bashant direct the rst 15,1 seri
ously doubt it would have come off
as well as it did. Howie, many,
many thanks!
FYI: The club loses money
on this event, and the participation
has been dwindling the last couple of
years. It has never been a big event,
and really can't be, because of the
size of the beach area, which is why
we haven't widely promoted it.
However, we could easily quadruple
the munber of participants without
concern for a compromise in quality
and safety. If you'd like it to remain
on our calendar, drop us a note, and
consider entering it. With practice,
we can all safely swim a hdf-mile or
more. There are roughly nine
months until the traditional date of
the next Biathlon.

Mi t zi a bi t at t he Somers Li ons Cl ub
1 OK on August 29th. Mitzi cajne in
at 32:15, and Maguire bested the
women' s el d wi t h a ne 38: 24,
Tara al so cl ai med t he "Fi rst Femal e
Somers Resident" Award, while the
Fi r st Mal e Resi dent Awar d went t o
Chuck Creel. Despite the difculty
of the course, the warm temperatures,
and a coni ct wi th a team event i n
Central Park, participation at this
race was up from last year by more
than 50 runners.
Ed McLaughlin, giving out
the awards, told Dave Mitzi to mark
this day down in his record book," as
the second place nisher was "Bill
Rogers"" - not THE Bill Rogers, but
the winner of the unofcial "traveled
furthest to run the race" Award, one
William Rogers from Williamsburg,
Virginia. Another "Unofcial
Award" goes to Howie Solow for
September 10, 1993
Dear Melanie,
A few quick words of
praise to you and Angelo and the
Somers Lions Club for putting on
such a challenging and well-
organized 1 OK race. You must
have sat right next to God,
because you even got the weather
to cooperate and the humidity to
be kind to us runners. My hat's
off to you ajid your crew for
doing such a superb job.
Also, please keep me
posted on any Women's Master's
Team races. I really enjoy
running for Taconic road Run
ners, because you all add the
"ftin" ingredient. I'll try to do my
best to run well and have fun
doing it.
Sincerely,
Er i k a Ab r a h a m

running his rst race as a 50-year old
(many more to come, Howie!!).
And, we can't leave out a special
mention for Bob Rogan, who bested
the 60 plus eld at the age of 72 ~
and not one word of complaint from
Bob about running against "all those
ki ds. "
As ever, this race director
appreciates the help of the many
volunteers all I had to do was stand
around ati d be nervous ~ whi l e Ed
McLaughlin started the race and did
the scoring, with the help of John
Dugdalc (a surprise and welcome
guest volunteer!). John Hallinan,
before he ran in the race, brought the
equipment and set up the course
with the help of Larry Lenahan,
although John was heart to muter at
the nish line, "I should have worked
this one!" Rudy Einhorn and
Norma directed trafc and took split
times, with Susan Solow's help.
Larry Lenahan handled the crotchety
Clironomex, which is obviously not
aging well, unlike the rest of us!
Many tiianks to Joanne
Bertram, Rick Salemmo, and
Linda and Paul Geppert, who did
double duty at both registration and
nish line. Last, but not least,
Richard Marlngionc and Conni
Grace, with our youngest volunteer
(another "unofcial award"), Coimi's
two year old son, Nicholas, distrib
uted T-shirts, and then came over to
work at t he ni sh l i ne.
Tlie only thing missing was
Greg Diamond's computer scoring, so
please excuse any typos in the
results. Luckily, there were a few
"dinosaurs" around (no names,
please) who remember how to score
manually.
Hope to see you all next
year!!
TRRC "Cross-Trainers" Fred Loehfelm, Brian Wheaton & Jack Brcnnan
are shown here with 1993 TRRC golf tourney winner Tom Lambert. "A
fun time was had by all!"

Foundat i on 5K
By Fredy Low
On Saturday, September 18th, TRRC, with
PepsiCo and Pepsi-Cola, ran the Pepsi-SUNY Fall 5K to
benet juvenile diabetes. This was an identical USAT&F
certied course which was used for the Human Race in
May. Next year, plan on running both of them to
compare your early season (May 21st?) and Fall (Septem
ber 17th?).
As far as numbers go, (approximately 160
nmners/500 walkers) it was good for the inclement
weather, but as a fundraiser and event to be at, it was
outstanding! ESPN's Chris Herman was the race starter,
announcer, et al, along with John Ratzenberg ("Cliff the
mailman" from Cheers), who were both fabulous to work
with - real pros. Cliffs (or should I say John's) sex year
old son has diabetes, so his attendance and kind words at
the awards' ceremony were personal and heartfelt.
Greg Diamond (also scorekeeper!) ran down
PEPSI Lane all alone at 18:17. Sara Collins was the 2nd
place female runner at 21:38; followed closely by Susan
Poet at 21:51 (Susan only planned to run through this
one!) Staying on the female side, TRRC's Meghan Quinn
took the under 19 medal in 26:01, followed by Kimberly

Poet (Mother/Daughter) in 27:25. Chris Corsino (Father/

for Chris. Marika Sickinger was F/2nd 20-29 at 24:54. A
few more TRRCers of note were: Jack Brennan rst 50-
59 at 18:59, followed by Demiis Daly at 19:42; John
Bates 1st 60+ at 22:42, and Charlie Heming at 32:07 was
second. Great fun for all - lotsa' Pizza Hut and Pepsi -

University Games
T OR C H R E L AY
JUiVE22-JULYS. 1993
The World University Games, held this past Summer in
Buffalo, is the largest all-amateur event in the world! In
the 70 year history of the Games, this was the rst time
the United States has ever hosted the event.
To promote the Games, New York Telephone spon
sored a Torch Relay. The relay began on June 22nd at
the Statue of Liberty and was carried across New York
State by thousands of relay "nmners" in one-tenth of a
mUe segments. The trek took 17 days and covered 1,100 miles!
As people lined up for their tenth of a mile run, they were met with the torch and a Cadre runner. The
cadre runners was a group of "real" runners (who also happen to be NYT or NYNEX employees) assembled by
New York Telephone to run with the torch carrier and to participate in the New York Telephone P.R. events. It
was the cadre runners responsibility to provide a little company for the torch carrier and to ensure safety - you'd
be surprised how many people singed their hair from carrying the torch too close to their body! I was very
attered when NYT asked me to participate as a cadre runner! While 1 would like to think they asked me for
my running ability, I'm sure the fact that I'm a consultant at NYNEX had a little to do with it!
Of the 17 days of the relay, I was able to run on 2 of them. My rst running day was the Garden City to
Shea Stadium and
enough in the Mets
the Cooperstown to
Rome wi th the Rome
Boilermaker, they
White Plains leg. My favorite event that day was running the Torch into Shea Stadium and
handing off to Rusty Staub before the Mets/Expo's game. It was early enough in the Mets
season that there were even some fans there! My second running day was the Cooperstown to
Rome leg. We ran through Utica with the Utica Road Runners Qub and into I Rome with the Rome
Road Rurmers Qub! The relay passed through Utica a week before the Utica * Boilermaker, they
were all psyched! Of course, I told anyone that would listen that I ran for Taconic! Most were familiar with the
Club and said, "That's a nice Qub". 1 couldn't believe how many people showed up to carry the torch in Utica.
It was such a big event the local TV news and newspapers all covered the event. When I expressed my surprise
to some of the torch carriers, they said "There's really nothing else to do in Utica, NY". I thought they were
kidding, they weren't!
On my last 5 mile leg of running, it poured! I didn't think the people who were supposed to carry the
torch would want to - but I was wrong! They were so excited to be a part of this event I don't think I could have
stopped them from running if I wanted to! And, of course, since they were so psyched, I didn't want to. We all
ran in this monsoon type rain storm. 1 was in a panic thinking the torch was going to go out, (that would have
been isMly_bad!) but it didn't.
Anyway... if you ever have the opportunity to participate in an event like this - do it! - it's a pretty
incredible experience! The company that was hired to administer this relay will also be doing the '96 Olympic
Torch Relay to Atlanta. So for all of us that don't qualify for the Olympics (cough, cough) this may be the
perfect alternative!

The Philipstown 10K
Race Report
By Jim Bagg
This year's Philipstown lOK and Fall Festival was
held on October 2, 1993. Philipstown is an excellent venue
for a fast time as the race is usually held on a cool Fall day
and the course is a net down hill. The race starts in
Garrison, with the rst third of the course uphill. The
remainder is downliill to Cold Spring, with much of the
race traversing dirt roads. The last half mile is down Main
Street Cold Spring, where you are cheered on by the
thousands of people attending the Fall Festival. This
provides a rush greater than anything you can buy on the
streets of Washington Heights!
West chest er Road Runner Puma Tr ack Cl ub
member George Buckheit strode into town, no doubt
expecting to toy with the eld. Well, he ran into Taconic
buzz saw, Dave Mitzi, who successfully defended the title
he won i n 1992. Fi rst mast er was Taconi c' s own road
warrior, Bob Hermesch, who nished fourth overall. This
guy excretes more carbo's than most people eat. Right
behind Bob was Taconicite Ken Filmanski, making his
master's debut on this day, his fortieth birthday. Ken's
philosophy on carbo loading is a beer a mile. Ken also
received a lucrative cash award for being the rst Cold
Spring resident to complete the race, which he immedi
ately turned over to the Club ofcer with the note "No
more Coors Light at the Wednesday group runs!" Such
sacrices are what make this Club so great. Special
mention goes to Taconic member Tom Church. Tom has
not been running much lately due to a stress fracture.
Nevertheless, Tom pimied on the number and managed to
gamer an age group award. Adding insult to injury (pun
intended) Tom, who won this race in 1990 and 1991, was
recognized by only one of the Philipstown phaithful who
yelled "Go Many!" as he motored down Main Street.
A bit of controversy occurred at the start as my
brother, T. Bagg, attempted to run as a female. Although
T. had a doctor's note explaining that his chromosomes had
been altered, a quick on-site physical inspection revealed
that nothing else had. As a form of protest, he/she rant the
race as a topless bandit. No one seemed to notice except
the wag who previously yelled "Go Harry!" at Tom
Church and now commented that he though Pete Corsino
had put on some weight. Rumor has it his guy cleans his
contact lenses with turpentine. Tliere was also some
confusion at the award's ceremony as one Bill Foley from
Cortlandt Manor (formerly from Peekskill) won a rafe
prize and a completely different Bill Foley from Garrison
won an age group award. To end this confusion, 1 suggest
one of them change their name to Owen McCrudden.

Twin Cities Marathon: October 3, 1993
By Katy Dady Quinn
A few months ago I men
tioned to my brother, Pat Dady, that
Steve and I were thinking of running
t he Twi n Ci t i es Mar at hon. Bef or e
we knew it, we received conrma
tion of our registration and gift T-
shirts from Pat that said "In training
f or t he Twi n Ci t i es Mar at hon! "
Okay, it was time to do more than
just think!
Pat l i ves i n t he Twi n Ci t i es
(of Minnesota). He came to New
York to run "our" Marathon in 1988,
and brought one of his South Dakota
buddies with him. (They have run
over hal f - a- dozen mar at hons t o
gether, including Boston.) Watching
them run inspired Steve and me to
get into running. In 1991 Pat ew in
to watch me run my rst New York
Marathon (and party with the
Taconics afterward!) It seemed only
right that we should now go and run
Twi n Ci t i es wi t h hi m. Unf or t u
nately, Steve's feet did not cooperate
with his training plans this summer,
so he came along to support us.
Pat, Steve and I and Steve's
brother Pat (Irom Eau Claire, Wise.)
ran the tune-up 5 K in 29 degree
windy cold weather on Saturday,
Oct ober 2. We t hen headed over t o
the St. Paul Hilton to pick up our
registration packets. There was NO
line!!!! The expo was great, and
everyone was stocking up on winter
running gear. (The weather predic
tions for the next day were still
uncer t ai n. I t has been known t o
snow on this marathon!)
We wer e bl essed wi t h
glorious weather on Marathon
Morning, though. It was 49 degrees
at the start and a surprising 75
degrees by the time I was nishing!
Bi l l ed as t he most beaut i f ul ur ban
marathon in the u s., the marathon
starts in downtown Minneapolis and
ends at the state Capitol in St. Paul.
The staging area is the Hubert H.
Humphrey metrodome. (It is great to
be able to just drive up, park, go in
where i t' s warm and where there are
ample clean bathrooms and water
fountains!) The course sends you
My brother Pat (who's run 22 marathons, including 11 consecutive TCM'S)
and me at the nish - in front of the Minnesota State Capitol.
running beneath splashes of autumn
color, along four lakes and the
Mississippi River. It is truly gor
geous!
4,000 volunteers and
200,000 spectators support the
runners with extraordinary enthusi
asm. This year, 5,083 ofcially
nished. (Registration is closed at
6,000) Of that group, 15 had last
names starting with "Q." Of those, 7
were "Quinns." (I wasn't one of
them, because Pat had registered me
with my maiden name, as Katy
Dady-Quinn.) I did enjoy the chalk-
written messages for the Quirm's
along the way, though. They
obviously had a well-organized
group. At mile 24, though, the nal
message said, "The Quinns are
dying!"
Steve and my gang of Dadys
were at mile 15 with signs and spirit
to cheer us on. At mile 20, Steve
surprised me by stepping in and
numing with me. He stayed with
me all the way to the nish.
(Yes, his nish time was identical to
mine. His start time, however, was
not recorded!)
The ni s h i s t er r i c . You
run past the green-domed cathedral
of St. Paul, over the last rise and
down t he smoot h st ret ch of bl ack
r oad t o t he ni sh l i ne. You t ake wi t h
you memories of the excitement of
being among the 6,000 rumiers who
clustered in the early morning chili,
poised for the starting gun amid
coffee-clutching well-wishers; the
cheers along the course of people
who catch your eye and call out your
bib number or name if, like me, you
wear it on your shirt; the spirit of the
numerous bands that played along
the route, the memory of an amazing
fan who magically appeared at four
different spots playing her accordian;
the nish line; the medallion around
your neck; tiie reunion and partying
with family afterward; the sense of
satisfaction in attaining a goal set
mont hs bef or e!
Thank you Taconic buddies,
especially Nancy, for ail the great
training runs!

Ridgeeld Half-Marathon: Sunday, October 3
Nick Caswell
Taconic Road Runners had another good showing in Connecticut. For those of you not familiar with
John Dugdale s race, trophies, medals or plaques are not de rigueur. Instead, cash in envelopes await the
speedy. Nonetheless, even if you are not a winner, I would recommend making the trip. The race is well-run
and the post-race hospitality is excellent.
After the race, I had the best of both worlds: a good chat during a twenty minute cool-down with
arguably the best runner in these parts and some -iendly talk with some of the nicest middle-of-the-pack
runners in these parts. And what a glorious Autumn day it was!
Thanks go to John Dugdale, his friends at the Wolfpit Running Club, and all the tremendous support
in Ridgeeld, CT for yet another great day at the races.

Ki l l er Bees Invade Teatown
B y B o b D a v i s ^
The novice team was told to arrive early and wear bright colors. "We want
you to be very visible to them. Spread out and make yourselves available." Someone^^^|^^^^^^
yelled, "OK guys, here they come." They appeared suddenly through the
trees...seemingly in droves...enormous yellow and black things..droning along
slowly., .as if being directed by a single mind., .the smaller multi-color variety were
arriving too...my blood ran cold...
The beginnings of another Stephen King novel? Hardly...
The scene was the IBM parking lot near Teatown, and the Taconic Road
"N Runners Club was well-represented at the annual Teatown Country Fair held on
October 2nd. Many volunteers showed up including: Rich Adamsid, Pearce
Tom Casey, Bob Davis, Roger Cocking, Leo Gormley, Larry
Lenahan, Ed McLaughlin, Pat & Fred Loehfelm, and Joe Porcaro.
Most of us arrived at 8 A.M. It was a beautiful cool morning. Great Fair
weather! Ed Buhl, President/Secretary of Teatown, turned us loose to do our thing.
Most of us were assigned to the "Parking Brigade," with a few doing other things such as Ed McLaughlin,
who stuffed those enormous yellow and black buses with fair-goers.
Although the Fair did not ofcially open until 10 A.M., the "Killer Bees" came ooding in by 9
A.M. Our trusty leader, Freddy Low, soon realized that buses and visiting cars should not be arriving at the
same gate. He and Pat raced to the main entrance to set up two access routes. The rest of us started parking
the cars, vans and small trucks as fast as they came down the chute. Most of the vehicles parked where we
told them to, but a few went off on their own merry way, causing minor confusion. By 10 A.M., we had it
down to a science, and looked like real "Parking Pros."
Mid-way through our tour of duty, a young lady from Teatown drove by to take our lunch orders.
"Would we like smoked salmon, sausage and peppers, tuna sh, etc. to be delivered? What a country! Joe
and I ate our sausage wedges with one hand and directed trafc with the other as cars kept streaming in. By 2
P.M., the lot was pretty well lled up. We all had a great time; however, Rich Adamski said that the tips
were lousy.
Ed Buhl has advised that close to 5,000 people enjoyed the fair and that gross revenues were about
$36,000. He said that Teatown was most appreciative for our assistance. Teatown has also sent thank you
letters to our group and invited us to attend their Volunteer Thank You Party on October 17th.
We all had a great day! Those who were unable to make it, should consider it for next year! Three
dates have also been set aside for doing trail maintenance. Call Tony Galfano or Fred Loehfelm if you can
lend a hand.
Sonnenberg Scholarship Established:
Taconic Road Runners extend their sympathies to the family of Ed Sonnenberg. Ed, father of Taconic Road
Runner and frequent age group wiimer, Brett Sonnenberg, died of a heart attack August 17 at the age of 41. He will be
missed by all of us who knew him.
An athlete and coach, Ed had played college basketball and continued to play and coach the game right up to
the night he died. Ed also encouraged Brett and other young runners to participate in numerous Taconic events.
Friends have established The Edward J. Sonnenberg Memorial Scholarhip which will be awarded annually to
a senior boy and a senior girl basketball player at Mahopac High School. If you are interested in donating to the fund,
send contributions to Edward J. Sonnenberg Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 552, Baldwin Place, NY 10505. Call Jay
Paldin at 628-4132 if you would like more information.

Columbus Day and 25K Races
By Scott Abercrombie
This year, 410 children ran in the 8th annual Columbus Day Running Races
for children in elementary school grades 1 - 6. There were separate 1/4 mile
heats, as required, for boys and girls in each grade, resulting in a total of 31 races.
Kindergarten children are excluded because of time constraints. Winners in each
heat won medals and team points for their schools. The winning teams were all
Lakeland schools: Ben Franklin was rst, Van Courtlandt, second, and Thomas Jefferson was third.
In addition to the Peekskill 4H Club at the registration table, and the Peekskill High School Parents
Club manning the concession stand, we had a great crew of volunteers helping out: Jack Bums, Tom
Church, Dennis Donohue, Debbie Farrell, Tony Galfano, John Hallinan, Bob Hermesch, Ed McLaughlin,
Pete Meisler, Scot Mosenthal, Lori Polidoro, and Joe Porcaro.
The cinder track mile, which was to follow the children's race, was quickly changed to the miracle
mile. Tony Galfano observed that it would be a miracle if we ran it, since many of us had mn a 25 K the day
before, and the interest in the mile was not great. I would have dragged them all onto the track anyway,
except I had just worked the midnight shift, and was feeling a fair amount of inertia myself. Oh, well!
The 25K was called the Marathon Tune-Up, and it was a point getter in the New York Road Runners
Club Series for 1993. Pemsing the results quickly after the race, it looked as though West Side Y beat our
Masters Team, but we still have a commanding lead over-all. Joe Porcaro led our team in 94 minutes and
about 15 seconds. Others on the team were Ken Filmanski, Tony Galfano, Bob Hermesch, Jim Martin, Ed
McLaughlin, Howie Solow, Gary Struve, and me.

RUNNING PLUS a lot more
1 wore my rst pair of running shoes in 1963.
(They were called "Patricks"). That autumn, I ran in
Blue Mountain Park. In 1964,1 was wearing Adidas and
was promptly thrown into the deep end - Van Cortland
Park. And, I occasionally wore New Balance. After all,
if coach Jolin Covert's runners at Ossining High School
wore them, then they must be good. Right? Yeah, 1
though 1 knew a thing or two about running shoes, that is
until I met Luis Guerra and Art Baisley at RUNNING
PLUS. I have been steadily impressed over the months
with their understanding of rumiers' needs and their
insights into the numing shoe business. These guys have
been educating themselves on a constant basis about a
business that has been taking quanmm leaps since I rst
began running.
But what has recently intrigued me about Luis
and Art is their dealing with the distributors in the
running shoes business. They are constantly fending off
advances to buy various inane lines of shoes as they keep
in mind their regular customers, who will or will not
wear the shoes being offered. You have to be aware of
so much these day. Luis and Art now have the best
working knowledge of running shoes of anybody 1 know.
Whether you want running shoes for long runs, tempo
runs, trails, tracks, or races, these guys can help. Thanks
guys.

Marine Corps Marathon Includes
"A Few Good Men & Women"
Fr om TRRO
What woman is brave enough to ride to Wash
ington and back with four Taconic men and listen to all
that "sage wisdom?" Well, we'll have to wait until the
January issue of TRL to hear the details of the trip.., and
to nd out who succumbed to the rigors of putting in 14
miles the day before the marathon (not a good idea!), but
here in time for our November press deadline are the
"results" of the dozen Taconic nishers of the Marine
Corps marathon. . .and even a picture for good measure.
We look forward to reading more about their adventures
in the January Taconic Running Life.
