 In Pakistan, each of provinces has a Governor.


 All Provincial Governors are considered
representatives of President of Pakistan in their
provinces.
 Every Governor is ceremonial head of his province.
 Each Governor possesses those powers, which are
similar to those of President of Pakistan. However,
distinction is that Governor exercises these powers
only in his province.

Eligibility:-
1. He must be a residence of that province.
2. The minimum age required is 35 years.
3. He must be a qualified to be elected as the member of National Assembly.
4. He must be a registered voter.

Article 101 (2):- “A person shall not be appointed a Governor unless he is


qualified to be elected as a member of the National Assembly and is not less
than thirty-five years of age [and is a registered voter and resident of the
concerned province].”

Selection Procedure:-
 The Governor is appointed by a President upon the
advice of Prime Minister.

 Article
101 (1):- “There shall be a Governor for
each province, who shall be appointed by the
President on the advice of the Prime Minister .”

Powers and Role of Governor as per Constitution:-


 Article101 (4):- Governor can pay written resignation to
President.
 Article 102:- The Governor will take oath before the Chief
Justice of High Court.
 Article
103 (1):- Governor shall not hold another office after
becoming Governor.
 Article103 (2):- The Governor shall not be a candidate for
election as a member of Parliament or Provincial Assembly.

Powers and Role of Governor as per Constitution:-


 Article
104:- Upon absence of Governor, Speaker Provincial
Assembly will perform the functions of Governor.
 Article105 (1):- The Governor shall act upon the advice of
Chief Minister.
 Article 110:- The Governor has the right to address the
Provincial Assembly.
 Article112 (1):- Governor can dissolve Provincial Assembly
upon the advice of Chief Minister.

Powers and Role of Governor as per Constitution:-


 Article 116 (1):- Every bill passed by the Provincial Assembly shall be
presented to Governor for approval.
 Article 128:- The Governor has the powers to issue ordinance.
 Article 131:- The Chief Minister shall keep the Governor informed on
matters related to Provincial administration and legislative
proposals.
 Article 140:- The Governor each province shall appoint the
Advocate General for the province.
 Article 248 (1):- The Governor is not answerable to court for exercise
of powers.
