STAGE OF LESSON

Stage 1. Introduction ~ 10 mins.

- In order to start this lesson, begin with selecting students to perform a poem from Roald Dahls
Revolting Rhymes. Allocate different students for the performance. When students have
finished the performance, ask them to sit back down and then give instructions. Make sure that
they know what they are doing and ask them if they have any questions. If not, then ask the
Tiger Snakes to sit down with me and read the poems. [3 Little Pigs and Little Red Riding
Hood]
-
Stage 2. Body ~ 30 mins.

These groups will be doing the following:

Tiger Snakes Reading poetry with me. Silent reading or taped books when finished.
Freaky Kids do questions. Prone Level 2 reorganisation.
Red Backs do words. Adverb activity on computer and print.
Double J will work on individual projects.

During this time, I will continue to manage the class as I read with the group. I will engage with
students by asking them how they are going, and praising their work when I finish with the shared
group reading. I will engage and interact with students during the reading time by encouragement and
praise.

Stage 3 + 4: Conclusion and Closure ~ 10 mins.

- At around 10:30, ask students to start putting their things away. As they settle down, tell them
that we will do one last performance before we go to recess and then allocate roles again. After
the performance, then tell them to get their playlunch.
