WITH OUR MIND
The greatest part of
Professors nowadays
takes up their time in
contracti ng gui l t and
asking for pardon, and
yet are not much the
better. Whereas, if they
had but the grace to add
to their faith, virtue, etc.,
they might have more
peace, live better lives
and not have their heads
so often in a bag, as they
have (Kepler 1952)
An outspoken individual,
Dani el Webster sai d,
Education can make us
i nt o cl ever devi l s.
Bunyan woul d have
agreed. Of keen mind
and good judgment, he
seemed to be unduly
suspi ci ous of f ormal
education. He read few
books, and justied his
i gnorance because i t
permitted the Spirit to
work unhindered.
There is an old story
about an airline pilot that
goes like this: after the
plane had gone through
a terrible storm the pilot
said to the passengers,
I m sorry about t he
rough ride, but there
wasn t much I coul d
about it. I think we are
through the worst of it,
although there are still a
few problems. We have
l ost our navi gat i onal
equipment. It appears
that we are lost, but I
want you to know that we
are making good time.

Clever devils are more
concerned wi th ends
than with the means to
end. The rst question is
not Is this the right thing
to do? but rather Is this
going to be effective?
This provokes the need
for education to produce
wise saints not clever
devils.
Of course we are not
saved by our education.

s a l v a t i o n p l a c e a
premium on ignorance.
To the woman of Samaria
Christ said, You worship
w h a t y o u d o n o t
know (John 4: 22). Too
many of us are in that
pr edi c ament t oday,
fumbling and groping in a
kind of theological fog
w i t h i n a c c u r a t e
compasses making us
vul ner abl e t o cl ever
devils.
The great commandment
reminds us to not only
love God with our whole
heart and soul, but also
with our mind.

and Ephesians 4: 11-15)

MOTHER' S 7 0 TH
BIRTHDAY
Three sons left home, started
careers and prospered. Getting
back together, they discussed
the gifts that they were able to
give their elderly mother for her
70th birthday.
The rst said, "I built a big
house for Mom."
The second said, "I sent her a
Mercedes with a driver."
The third smiled and said, "I've
got you both beat. You know
how Mom enjoys the Bible and
you know she can't see very
well. I sent her a brown parrot
that can recite he entire Bible.

monastery 12 years to teach
him. I had to ledge to contribute
$100,000 a year for 10 years,
but it was worth it. Mom just
has to name the chapter and
verse and the parrot will recite
it."
Soon thereafter, Mom sent out
letters of thanks:
She wrote to the rst son,
"Milton, the house you built is
not practical. I live in only one
room, but I have to heat, cool,
and clean the whole house."
She wrote to the second son,
"Marvin, I am too old to travel. I
stay home all the time, so I
never use the Mercedes. And
the driver is so rude!"

"Dearest Melvin, you were the
only son to have the good
sense to know what your
mother likes. The chicken was
delicious."

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP
Youth Fellowship meets fourth Saturdays of every month at 04:00pm at
the residence of a parish member.
Encourage all youngsters of our parish to participate in the activities of the

SUNDAY SCHOOL
Regular Sunday School on all Sundays before the Holy Communion

Edavaka Mission meets at the residence of a parish member every

Senior Citizens Fellowship meets fourth Saturdays of every month at

Sevika Sangham meets once every two month at the residence of a
parish member.
