Alpha waves are one type of brain waves(frequency range of 812 Hz) detected eithe
r by electroencephalography (EEG) or magnetoencephalography (MEG) and
predominantly originate from the occipital lobe during wakeful relaxation with c
losed eyes. Alpha waves are reduced with open eyes,
drowsiness and sleep. Historically, they were thought to represent the activity
of the visual cortex in an idle state. More recent
study have argued that they inhibit areas of the cortex not in use, or alternati
vely that they play an active role in network
coordination and communication. Alpha waves during periods of eyes closed are th
e strongest EEG brain signals.

Alpha Brain Waves refer to the way the brain functions during a relaxed state.
Techniques for Achieving Alpha Brain state.
1) Research has determined that when listening to certain types of music the bra
in waves are caused to go into a relaxed state which is more
conducive to learning.

2) Meditation is also believed to be another way of achieving an alpha state. Li
ke Transcendental Meditation, Highly usefull specially for kids.
3) Yoga is another method of brain entrainment that has been practiced for centu
ries. It can be used to effectively way to reach the optimal state for learning.

Brainwaves are categorized in 4 categories : Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta.
Beta (13- 40 cycles per second)
Beta is associated with our waking activity. During a day we experience all the
brainwave patterns with a predominance of Beta.
Alpha (8-13 cycles per second)
The first pattern discovered in 1908 by an Austrian Psychiatrist named Hans Berg
er. Alpha pattern appears when in wakefulness where
there is a relaxed and effortless alertness. It is recommend to practice your cr
eative visualization and auto-suggestion technique in alpha state.
Research has found that the ideal state for learning is when the brain is in a r
elaxed, but aware state, so when we say relaxed, we do not mean
asleep. We mean relaxed, focussed and aware. The state is also great for releasin
g stress.
Theta (4-7 cycles per second)
Associated with creativity, dreams and Extra-sensory perception for the student
the theta state is something to learn to go at will.
They are countless ways to reach theta , so I will not talk about that. Theta is
simply the state where your ESP can operates ,
if you do the proper work you can learn to enter theta at will and perform most
of the psychic activities. Now, we use the EEG to
measure the thing.
Delta (1/2 - 4 cycles per second)
Delta is associated with deep sleep, this pattern is very slow, however, this br
ain waves pattern is important for the explorer of consciousness ,
the EEG is no help to grade, when occur X or Y in the delta range.
