100 years commemoration of the contribution people from

Yarm made during WW1.

Welcome to this exciting project, where you can create glass poppies to commemorate each of
the 83 servicemen from Yarm who died in the 191418 War! "ach of these poppies will #e lit
from within and presented at the candlelit vigil in Yarm on the 4
th
$ugust to mem#ers of the
deceased family, as a sym#ol that their courage and sacrifice will never #e forgotten, and their
inspiration will light up future generations to come!
When % conceived this project, % wanted to commemorate those who died #y ena#ling the living
to ta&e part in a new creative venture that could open new pathways for them! 'his would
include the young people and those who have left the armed forces due to injury etc and find
readjusting to civilian life extremely difficult!
(y hope is that #y researching the soldier)s name, you will find a young man with similar
hopes and worries, so you can empathise with him, move past the stereotypes of the war and
#e a#le to reflect on what his life was and what he has given us all!
