The aptly named Frank McCourt is back in court again and this time he brought the Dodgers with

him.
Here at the Hall of Shame we pride ourselves on eposing the shameful side of baseball and Frank
McCourt !ust keeps making our !ob easier and easier this year.
"hat could be more of shame then seeing the once mighty Dodgers organi#ation in the sad shape its
in$ How about the once might Dodgers organi#ation filing for bankruptcy protection$ %efore we delve
into what the bankruptcy means to the club& lets take a look at how they got into this situation in the
first place.
Frank McCourt and 'amie (uskin decided to get married in )*+*. ,o one could have known then the
impact those nuptials would have on the direction of the (os -ngeles Dodgers baseball team. ./ years
later the McCourts 0which is not a new !udicial sandwich coming to a McDonald1s near you2 get
separated and begin this ugly divorce proceeding that has put the club in this position.
So we have two options. "e can blame it on Frank and 'amie or we can take a look at the bigger issue
that is the culprit of this whole problem....why are people still getting married$ 3 mean seriously have
we not learned our lesson as a society yet$ Clearly not& seems like ever month some different state is
legali#ing marriage for more people. -nd this whole time 3 thought the point of being a gay man was
that you didn1t have to get married& now 3 really don1t get it. -s a matter of fact& homoseuals in ,ew
4ork !ust won the right to get married this week. Congratulations& don1t freaking do it. (ook what
happened to Frank and 'amie. 5verything was going great& they had money& education& and power.
Frank was living the dream running a baseball team& what guy wouldn1t want to do that$ -nd !ust like
that it1s all gone.
So...that1s off my chest. "hat about the future of the Dodgers$ -ctually& 3 think the bankruptcy could
be a good thing. 3f McCourt wins this case it will prevent Ma!or (eague %aseball 0more specifically
%ud Selig2 from taking control of the team and deciding who to sell the team to. This opens the door to
a lot more potential owners. ,amely& the greatest sports owner on the planet right now& Mark Cuban.
Cuban has been trying to get into baseball for several years now and it seems pretty clear that Selig
would prefer to avoid letting Cuban get his hands on any baseball team. -nd certainly he doesn1t want
the ,%-1s bad boy owner running one of the most important franchises in baseball. So if M(% wins
the case& there is little chance that any offer for the Dodgers from a group headed by Cuban will be
accepted by Selig. The bankruptcy keeps the door wide open for Cuban.
31ll save my eplanation of why Mark Cuban would be great for baseball for a time when he actually
does buy a team. %ut if you read me very often& you know my opinions on Selig. So Cuban or any
owner that will challenge Selig1s mule6headedness is welcomed with open arms by this writer. ,ot to
mention ma!or league umpires need all the criticism they can get and Cuban is !ust the guy to let them
have it.
3n the meantime& we will wait to see how the final act in this Hollywood drama plays out. Here1s
hoping that McCourt wins his case and then the fun begins.
